TFP Bureau, Raipur, September 25, 2025: Chhattisgarh has achieved a remarkable milestone in the field of water conservation, securing second place nationally in the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari 1.0 (JSJB) rankings. The recognition highlights the state\u2019s unique model of combining good governance with mass public participation, transforming water management into a people\u2019s movement. So far, 4,05,563 works have been completed across Chhattisgarh under the initiative.<\/p>\n
Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai congratulated citizens for their role in this achievement, describing it as \u201ca proud moment that ensures water security for generations to come.\u201d He noted that this success reflects the awakening of collective consciousness towards water conservation, setting Chhattisgarh as a model for the rest of the nation.<\/p>\n
At the urban level, Raipur Municipal Corporation earned national recognition by securing the top prize in the country. Through 33,082 water conservation projects, the corporation not only improved water security but also showcased how urban development can be rooted in community participation. The Chief Minister applauded Raipur\u2019s citizens and administration for turning water conservation into a city-wide movement, calling it \u201ca shining example for other urban bodies across India.\u201d<\/p>\n
The state\u2019s districts also delivered an impressive performance. In Category 1, Balod secured the first place, Rajnandgaon second, and Raipur third, with each district set to receive \u20b92 crore. In Category 2, Mahasamund, Baloda Bazar, and Gariaband will be awarded \u20b91 crore each, while in Category 3, Bilaspur, Raigarh, Balrampur, Dhamtari, Surajpur, and Durg will each receive \u20b925 lakh. This widespread recognition underscores how water conservation efforts have been embraced across rural and urban Chhattisgarh alike.<\/p>\n
Chief Minister Sai emphasized that the honor belongs to \u201cevery farmer, every woman, every youth, and every public representative who pledged to save every drop of water.\u201d He reiterated that true public welfare is possible only when the community participates wholeheartedly, noting that the success of JSJB is the outcome of the state\u2019s governance model based on dialogue and inclusiveness.<\/p>\n
He further highlighted that water conservation is central to Chhattisgarh\u2019s agriculture-driven economy and long-term development strategy. For the special honor conferred upon Raipur Municipal Corporation, he extended gratitude to its officials, elected representatives, and citizens, urging other municipal bodies in India to learn from this example of community-led urban water conservation.<\/p>\n
