TFP Bureau, Raipur, September 28, 2025: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Sunday described the Goods and Services Tax (GST) 2.0 reforms as a \u201chistoric transformation\u201d in the Indian economy that has directly benefited ordinary citizens. Speaking at the GST 2.0 Reforms \u201cDhanyawad Modi Ji\u201d programme held at the Medical College Auditorium in Raipur, the Chief Minister said the reduction in GST rates has eased household expenses and provided relief to farmers, while strengthening the national economy.<\/p>\n
Organised by the Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Raipur Division, the event saw the Chief Minister felicitate several Padma Shri awardees and national-level sportspersons for their remarkable contributions to society and the nation.<\/p>\n
In his address, CM Sai credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for implementing bold reforms that were once considered impossible. \u201cBe it the abrogation of Article 370, the passage of the Triple Talaq Bill, or now the GST reforms, these decisions have given strength to the people and new direction to the nation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The Chief Minister highlighted personal interactions with citizens to showcase how GST reforms have tangibly improved lives. \u201cRecently, I visited a mart where homemakers joyfully shared how their kitchen budgets had reduced because of lower GST rates. Similarly, at a tractor showroom, I was told that farmers are saving between \u20b965,000 and \u20b91 lakh on new tractors. These reforms are not just policy decisions, but direct relief in people\u2019s lives,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n
Emphasizing the role of entrepreneurs in building a developed Chhattisgarh, CM Sai said the state\u2019s new industrial policy has generated strong interest among global investors. \u201cDuring my visits to Japan and Korea, Investor Connect programmes witnessed enthusiastic participation, with several Asian investors showing keen interest in Chhattisgarh. Such investments will not only boost industrial growth but also create large-scale employment opportunities for our youth,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Supporting the Chief Minister\u2019s views, Member of Parliament Brijmohan Agrawal said that GST reforms initiated under Prime Minister Modi are unprecedented. \u201cThis step is empowering the common man. Reduced prices of essential goods have brought relief to families, and at the same time, India\u2019s economy is growing stronger. The positive response from citizens shows the wide acceptance of these reforms,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The programme also turned into an occasion to honour the pride of Chhattisgarh, as the Chief Minister felicitated Padma Shri awardees and national-level players. Those recognised included John Martin Nelson, Dr. Radheshyam Barle, Smt. Usha Barle, Dr. Pukhraj Bafna, Smt. Phoolbasan Bai Yadav, Smt. Shamshad Begum, Dr. Bharti Bandhu, Anuj Sharma, Madan Singh Chauhan, Saba Anjum, Ajay Kumar Mandavi, Hemchand Manjhi, Pandi Ram, Jageshwar Yadav, Rajendra Prasad, Rajesh Chauhan and Neeta Dumre. Their achievements, CM Sai said, reflect the cultural, social, and sporting excellence of the state.<\/p>\n
The event was attended by MP Rupkumari Choudhary, MLA Purandar Mishra, Motilal Sahu, Sampat Agrawal, Anuj Sharma, Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Civil Supplies Corporation Sanjay Srivastava, CGMSCL Chairman Deepak Mhaskey, Minority Commission Chairman Amarjeet Singh Chhabra, President of Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce Satish Thaurani, Akhilesh Soni, Shrichand Sundarani, Ajay Bhasin, along with senior office bearers of the Chamber of Commerce and Industries.<\/p>\n
