<\/p>\nTFP Bureau, Raipur, September 29, 2025: Chhattisgarh has achieved a landmark milestone in maternal healthcare by ensuring 100% antenatal check-ups for all registered pregnant women in the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyay Maha Abhiyan (PM-Janman) area of Lormi block in Mungeli district. Under the state\u2019s flagship \u201cSwasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan\u201d (Healthy Women, Empowered Family Campaign), all 87 pregnant women received quality antenatal care, marking a new chapter in the state\u2019s efforts to reach even the remotest forested regions.<\/p>\n
As part of the initiative, 15 high-risk pregnancies were identified and provided with specialized tests, including sonography, by doctors at the Lormi Mother and Child Hospital. The intervention has been hailed as a breakthrough in bringing advanced maternal care to women from marginalized communities, particularly the Baiga tribe, who have historically been deprived of such facilities. Screening, nutritional counseling, and preparation for institutional deliveries are helping ensure safer motherhood outcomes for women in these remote settlements.<\/p>\n
The state government\u2019s mobile healthcare network, including the 102 Mahatari Express and mobile medical units, played a critical role in delivering services to Baiga families living deep in the forests. Frontline health workers\u2014Mitanins and ANMs\u2014were instrumental in mobilizing women, connecting them with health institutions, and ensuring regular follow-ups.<\/p>\n
Beyond antenatal check-ups, the campaign also focused on broader women\u2019s health awareness. Adolescent girls and women were counseled on menstrual hygiene, weekly iron-folic acid intake, and balanced nutrition. Screenings for sickle cell anemia, tuberculosis, hypertension, diabetes, and cancers such as cervical and breast were also conducted, strengthening preventive healthcare at the community level.<\/p>\n
Between September 24 and 26, as part of the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA), over 51,000 pregnant women were screened in 843 government health institutions across Chhattisgarh. Of these, more than 10,000 high-risk cases were identified and given timely medical interventions, while ultrasonography was performed on 8,619 women, significantly improving maternal health monitoring.<\/p>\n
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai praised the achievement, calling it a \u201chistoric step\u201d in reducing maternal and infant mortality. \u201cEvery pregnant woman in Chhattisgarh, whether from remote forest regions or PVTG communities, must have access to safe motherhood services. The success in Lormi reflects our commitment to making maternal health a collective responsibility,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal echoed this sentiment, adding that the success of 100% antenatal check-ups in Lormi proves that the state\u2019s health services are now reaching the last mile. \u201cThis achievement highlights our commitment to the health and safety of women from PVTG communities. Going forward, we will expand this model across the state,\u201d he affirmed.<\/p>\n
With this initiative, Chhattisgarh has not only expanded access to healthcare but also strengthened public trust in the state\u2019s ability to deliver life-saving services to its most vulnerable citizens.
