<\/p>\nTFP Bureau, Raipur, October 7, 2025: Finance and Commercial Tax Minister O.P. Choudhary has directed officials to ensure that the benefits of reduced Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates under the \u201cGST Savings Festival\u201d directly reach citizens. Chairing a special review meeting in Naya Raipur, the Minister emphasized that the reduction in GST rates should translate into real savings for households and relief for traders, marking a new phase of tax reform under the GST 2.0 initiative.<\/p>\n
Choudhary reviewed the status of markets across the state and instructed officials to maintain full transparency in the implementation of new rates. He said that the reforms initiated under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi are historic and aimed at simplifying trade while easing the financial burden on ordinary citizens. \u201cOur responsibility is to ensure that every family in the state feels the impact of these reforms through lower prices and fair trade practices,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The Finance Minister highlighted that nearly 99 percent of consumer goods now fall under the 5 percent GST slab, significantly lowering prices of daily-use products. The revised rates have also brought remarkable savings in essential sectors. For instance, buyers of agricultural equipment such as tractors are now saving between \u20b960,000 and \u20b91.2 lakh. Prices of clothing, household items, and other essentials have also seen a noticeable decline, bringing tangible relief to consumers.<\/p>\n
The GST 2.0 reforms, which came into force on September 22, 2025, have particularly benefited the healthcare sector. Individual life and health insurance premiums are now fully exempt from GST, helping families save thousands of rupees annually. The tax rate on most medicines, medical devices, and diagnostic kits has been slashed from 12 percent to 5 percent, while many critical and life-saving drugs have been made entirely tax-free. These measures have eased healthcare costs and provided meaningful relief to households nationwide.<\/p>\n
Minister Choudhary also directed GST officials in all districts to strictly enforce the new rates, warning that no goods should be sold at outdated prices. He ordered that all existing stock be relabeled to reflect revised rates and that retailers ensure transparency in billing. Daily progress reports on the \u201cGST Savings Festival\u201d will be compiled and monitored at the state level. Choudhary stated that he would personally review the implementation to ensure that every consumer in Chhattisgarh benefits from the GST reforms.<\/p>\n
The meeting was attended by Finance Secretary Mukesh Bansal, Commissioner of State Taxes Pushpendra Meena, and senior and regional officials of the Finance and Commercial Tax Department.
