TFP Bureau, Raipur, October 28, 2025: The Election Commission of India has launched a special intensive revision of electoral rolls across 12 states, including Chhattisgarh, marking the beginning of a comprehensive drive to ensure accuracy and transparency in the voter lists ahead of upcoming elections.<\/p>\n
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Yashwant Kumar chaired an important meeting with representatives of all recognized political parties at the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer in Raipur on Monday. The meeting aimed to brief party representatives about the schedule, procedures, and responsibilities associated with the electoral roll revision process.<\/p>\n
Representatives from major political parties\u2014including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Indian National Congress (INC), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and National People\u2019s Party (NPP)\u2014attended the meeting. The parties expressed their commitment to assisting the Election Commission in preparing an error-free and transparent voter list.<\/p>\n
During the session, CEO Yashwant Kumar emphasized the critical role of Booth Level Officers (BLOs), Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) in ensuring that every eligible citizen is included and every ineligible name is removed. He urged political parties to cooperate through their Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to identify missing voters, deceased persons, or those who have shifted residence.<\/p>\n
Under the revision process, each BLO will conduct house-to-house verification, collecting and verifying Form 6 for new voter registration, as well as performing Aadhaar linkage where applicable. They will also identify duplicate and invalid entries. The process is designed to maintain the integrity of the voter list at every level\u2014from polling stations to the state headquarters.<\/p>\n
Stages of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR):<\/strong> The draft electoral roll<\/em> will be published on December 9, 2025<\/strong>, containing names of verified voters. Simultaneously, lists of absent, deceased, transferred, or duplicate voters will be displayed on the CEO\u2019s website and at public offices.<\/p>\n Following publication, a claims and objections<\/em> period will run from December 9, 2025, to January 8, 2026<\/strong>, during which voters or BLAs may file corrections or objections. Hearings and verifications will continue until January 31, 2026<\/strong>, ensuring transparency in voter inclusion and deletion.<\/p>\n The final electoral roll<\/em> is scheduled for publication on February 7, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n CEO Yashwant Kumar reiterated that the revision process is vital to strengthening democratic participation by ensuring that every eligible citizen\u2019s name finds a place on the rolls. \u201cThis drive is not merely administrative but a national responsibility. \nThe program will unfold in several phases. During the pre-enumeration phase<\/em>, BLOs, EROs, and DEOs will undergo training and perform manual and digital voter data verification through the ECINET system. This will be followed by the enumeration phase<\/em>, which includes door-to-door verification, collection of enumeration forms, and rationalization of polling stations to a maximum of 1,200 voters per station.<\/p>\n
