TFP Bureau, <\/i>Begusarai, Bihar \u2013 Addressing a massive crowd in Begusarai amid heavy rain on Saturday, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra made a fiery appeal to voters, urging them not to be swayed by what she called the \u201cfalse promises and divisive politics\u201d of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Speaking at a public rally in support of the Grand Alliance candidate for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, Priyanka accused the ruling NDA government of systematically weakening democracy, promoting corporate interests, and failing to address the core concerns of the people.<\/p>\n

Welcoming the enthusiastic crowd that had braved the downpour, Priyanka said, \u201cThis land has produced some of the brightest minds and has contributed immensely to the country\u2019s glory. Yet, why has Bihar not received the development it truly deserves? Why are its youth still forced to migrate in search of livelihood?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNDA Has Weakened the People\u2019s Right to Vote\u201d<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Launching a scathing attack on the NDA, Priyanka alleged that the government had undermined the very foundation of democracy. \u201cThe NDA government has weakened people\u2019s right to vote,\u201d she said, accusing it of deliberately removing 65 lakh names from the voter list. \u201cThis is not just administrative negligence\u2014it\u2019s a direct assault on people\u2019s rights. They have spread division in society, promoted false nationalism, and deprived citizens of their democratic voice.\u201d<\/p>\n

She asserted that while the NDA talks about nationalism, its actions have hollowed out democratic institutions and ignored the people\u2019s real issues. \u201cThey divide citizens on religion and caste lines while the real problems\u2014unemployment, inflation, and social justice\u2014remain unaddressed,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

\u201cNDA Talks About the Past, Not the Present\u201d<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Priyanka criticized NDA leaders for their failure to address contemporary challenges, saying, \u201cWhenever their senior leaders come to Bihar, they either talk about Nehru ji and Indira ji or make promises for the next 20 years. They don\u2019t talk about what they\u2019ve done for the people today. They remain silent on unemployment, migration, and the plight of farmers.\u201d<\/p>\n

She highlighted that lakhs of young people from Bihar are forced to leave their homes to seek employment in other states. \u201cIf Bihar\u2019s youth are still leaving the state in such large numbers, then what development are they talking about?\u201d she asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cPrivatization Has Peaked, Jobs Have Vanished\u201d<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The Congress leader accused the Modi government of selling public sector assets to corporate allies while doing little to generate jobs. \u201cPrivatization is at its peak. Major public enterprises have been handed over to corporate friends. They now claim they will provide 1.5 crore jobs\u2014then why didn\u2019t they do so in the last 20 years?\u201d she questioned.<\/p>\n

Priyanka went on to challenge the government\u2019s development narrative: \u201cHas anyone\u2019s life actually changed? Has the youth\u2019s future become more secure? Or are we just witnessing more publicity campaigns and false claims?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWomen Are Unsafe, Government Busy in Propaganda\u201d<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Raising the issue of women\u2019s safety in Bihar, Priyanka said, \u201cWomen in Bihar are not safe. It has become difficult for them to even step out of their homes in the evening. The so-called double-engine government has failed to ensure safety or dignity for women.\u201d<\/p>\n

She accused the NDA of running a propaganda-driven administration disconnected from ground realities. \u201cThere is no double engine\u2014only one government running from Delhi. The Chief Minister\u2019s voice is not being heard, and the people\u2019s voices are being ignored,\u201d she remarked.\"\"<\/p>\n

Priyanka further alleged that government lands were being handed over to corporates at \u201cthrowaway prices,\u201d pushing ordinary people to the margins. \u201cIf the public wants to end this exploitation, then change is the only solution. They divide the people, talk about wars, and now they are conspiring to steal votes\u2014but this time, the public is awake,\u201d she declared to loud cheers.<\/p>\n

\u201cCongress Built the Foundations of Modern India\u201d<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Taking a dig at the BJP\u2019s frequent references to the Congress era, Priyanka said, \u201cWhen they talk about the past, I want to remind them\u2014it was Congress and Pandit Nehru who built the IITs, IIMs, and major factories that form the backbone of modern India.\u201d<\/p>\n

She praised Rahul Gandhi\u2019s call for a caste-based census and social justice, saying, \u201cRahul Gandhi talks about equality because backward classes and marginalized groups still have not received their full rights. Congress stands for a fair and inclusive India.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTake the Money, But Don\u2019t Give Them Your Vote\u201d<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Addressing women specifically, Priyanka made a sharp remark on the BJP\u2019s pre-election schemes. \u201cNow Modi ji says he will give \u20b910,000. Fine\u2014take the money, it\u2019s your right. But don\u2019t vote for him,\u201d she told the crowd. \u201cThis is your chance to bring real change and elect a government that listens to you.\u201d<\/p>\n

She assured that if the Mahagathbandhan forms the next government in Bihar, it will prioritize employment generation and governance reforms. \u201cWe will prepare a \u2018job calendar\u2019 and ensure strict implementation. Employment will not remain a slogan\u2014it will become a commitment,\u201d she promised.<\/p>\n

As her address came to a close, the crowd chanted slogans in support of change and waved Congress flags, undeterred by the rain. Priyanka\u2019s spirited speech sought to reignite the Congress\u2019s connection with Bihar\u2019s electorate by blending sharp criticism of the ruling alliance with promises of inclusive development and social justice.<\/p>\n
