Radhakrishnan, graced the grand closing ceremony of the Chhattisgarh Rajat Mahotsav in Nava Raipur as the Chief Guest, marking the culmination of the state\u2019s five-day Silver Jubilee celebrations. The event, commemorating 25 years of Chhattisgarh\u2019s formation, was attended by Governor Shri Ramen Deka, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, and Speaker of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Dr. Raman Singh, among other dignitaries.<\/p>\n
Addressing the gathering, the Vice-President described the Rajat Mahotsav as a celebration of Chhattisgarh\u2019s inspiring journey from its humble beginnings in 2000 to becoming a model of inclusive growth, good governance, and cultural pride. He expressed profound joy in joining the people of Chhattisgarh for the Silver Jubilee, inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, and called the festival a reflection of the state\u2019s collective strength, resilience, and aspiration.<\/p>\n
The Vice-President recalled the visionary leadership of former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, whose historic decision to create the state on November 1, 2000, laid the foundation for a new era of self-reliance and development. Sharing his personal connection, Shri Radhakrishnan noted that he had supported the State Reorganisation Bill as a Member of Parliament and expressed satisfaction at witnessing the remarkable transformation of Chhattisgarh over the last quarter-century.<\/p>\n
He lauded the state\u2019s success in overcoming its early challenges, particularly in tackling Naxalism. Applauding the coordinated efforts of the Central and State Governments, along with the security forces and local communities, the Vice-President remarked, \u201cDevelopment and trust have replaced fear and violence in Chhattisgarh. The triumph over extremism is a testament to the power of collective political will and inclusive governance.\u201d He congratulated the people of the state for choosing peace, progress, and partnership as the pillars of a new Chhattisgarh.<\/p>\n
Highlighting the achievements of the past 25 years, Shri Radhakrishnan praised the contributions of farmers, entrepreneurs, youth, and women\u2019s self-help groups in driving the state\u2019s socio-economic growth. He especially commended Chhattisgarh\u2019s tribal communities, describing them as \u201cthe true guardians of forests, culture, and heritage,\u201d and noted that their sustainable lifestyle embodies values of coexistence and ecological balance that are vital for modern society.<\/p>\n
The Vice-President also lauded Chhattisgarh\u2019s exemplary Public Distribution System (PDS), which provides free food grains to more than 72 lakh beneficiaries, calling it a model for other states. He appreciated former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh\u2019s pivotal role in strengthening the system and ensuring food security for all sections of society.<\/p>\n
Praising the state\u2019s rapid strides in infrastructure, Shri Radhakrishnan said that the extensive development of roads, railways, and expressways, along with new airports and logistics hubs, has connected remote districts to national markets. He described Nava Raipur as India\u2019s first planned greenfield capital, combining modern infrastructure with environmental consciousness. \u201cNava Raipur stands as a symbol of vision and progress \u2014 home to emerging sectors like IT, pharmaceuticals, artificial intelligence, and digital innovation. It is poised to become a Global Capability Centre representing the future of a modern India,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
He also emphasized the government\u2019s futuristic \u201cAnjor Vision @2047\u201d framework, which aligns with the national mission of building a Viksit Bharat<\/em>. He said that under this vision, Chhattisgarh is focusing on digital transformation, semiconductor manufacturing, renewable energy, and human resource development \u2014 all of which will position the state as a major contributor to India\u2019s global growth story.<\/p>\n Turning to Chhattisgarh\u2019s cultural richness, the Vice-President praised its vibrant traditions, arts, and festivals that showcase India\u2019s unity in diversity. He spoke of the deep significance of tribal dances like Panthi, Karma, and Sua, which express both devotion and social unity. \u201cChhattisgarh has successfully maintained a balance between modernization and cultural preservation. It is a land where development does not come at the cost of heritage,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n Reflecting on the meaning of true progress, Shri Radhakrishnan said, \u201cProgress is not measured only by GDP growth or industrial output. It is reflected in the happiness of citizens, in the trust people have in their governance, and in the hope that shines in every child\u2019s eyes.\u201d He emphasized that the government\u2019s mission must continue to prioritize inclusive welfare, healthcare, education, and skill development.<\/p>\n The Vice-President particularly highlighted Chhattisgarh\u2019s achievements in health and social welfare, including cataract-free initiatives, the Ayushman Bharat scheme, and rural healthcare reforms. He said that the focus on preventive healthcare, clean water, and nutrition has greatly improved the state\u2019s human development indicators. Calling the Rajat Mahotsav not merely a celebration but a reaffirmation of purpose, the Vice-President urged the youth to take forward the state\u2019s legacy with innovation, compassion, and a spirit of service. \u201cThis festival is not just about looking back with pride \u2014 it is about looking ahead with commitment.
