TFP Bureau, Raipur, November 13, 2025: The Excise Department has intensified efforts to meet its annual revenue target of \u20b912,500 crore for the financial year 2025\u201326, with clear directives for district-wise reviews, disciplined operations, and strict enforcement of rules. At a comprehensive review meeting held at Nava Raipur on Thursday, Excise Department Secretary and Commissioner Ms. R. Sangeeta instructed officials to adopt a focused and transparent strategy to boost revenue while curbing irregularities in liquor trade across the state.<\/p>\n
Senior officials from all districts, flying squads, the Chhattisgarh State Marketing Corporation Limited, and departmental officers attended the meeting. During the review, the Secretary and Commissioner took stock of revenue progress across districts, commending those that had achieved their targets by October and directing lagging districts to identify shortcomings, devise concrete action plans, and implement corrective measures promptly.<\/p>\n
Ms. Sangeeta emphasized the need to maintain adequate liquor stocks in accordance with local demand, ensuring that no liquor is sold above the prescribed rates. She instructed officials to enforce discipline at liquor outlets, mandating clear display of available brands and prices to promote transparency and consumer convenience.<\/p>\n
Reiterating the department\u2019s commitment to curbing malpractice, the Secretary and Commissioner directed that all district officers conduct surprise inspections at least twice a week. She ordered immediate disciplinary action against employees found guilty of irregularities, including suspension and blacklisting. Officials were also told to promote digital payments by setting up dedicated counters for Paytm and other cashless modes in all liquor stores.<\/p>\n
Ms. Sangeeta further directed that special inspection drives be launched at bars, clubs, hotels, and roadside dhabas across the state to check for violations, including operations beyond permitted hours and sale of illegal liquor. She instructed that police assistance be sought wherever necessary to ensure effective control over the manufacture, transport, and smuggling of illicit liquor and other intoxicants.<\/p>\n
Excise checkpoints located at interstate borders have been ordered to intensify vigilance against the entry of liquor from neighbouring states. Officers were also asked to ensure smooth functioning of CCTV surveillance systems at these checkpoints to strengthen monitoring and enforcement.<\/p>\n
The Secretary and Commissioner directed officials to handle public complaints with urgency and sensitivity, and to resolve pending departmental matters such as pension and compassionate appointment cases without delay.<\/p>\n
Special Secretary of the Excise Department, Mr. Devendra Singh Bhardwaj, along with senior officials from the headquarters, divisional, and district levels, attended the meeting.
