The announcement is expected to bring significant economic relief to consumers across the state.<\/p>\n<p>Under the new provision, domestic consumers who use up to 200 units of electricity per month will now be charged only half the existing tariff for the entire 200-unit slab. This decision directly benefits more than 36 lakh domestic power consumers, making it one of the state\u2019s largest welfare initiatives in the energy sector.<\/p>\n<p>The Chief Minister further announced that domestic consumers using between 200 and 400 units per month will also be eligible for the half-rate benefit on the first 200 units for the next one year. Approximately 6 lakh households fall into this category. The one-year concession period has been introduced to provide sufficient time for these consumers to install solar rooftop systems under the PM Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Push for Solar Adoption<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Highlighting the importance of renewable energy, Shri Sai noted that solar installations take time\u2014from application to installation\u2014creating a temporary gap in benefits for several consumers. The one-year extension is intended to bridge this transition period.<\/p>\n<p>He reiterated that the state government is offering additional subsidies under the PM Suryaghar scheme to accelerate adoption. These include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\u20b915,000 subsidy<\/strong> for installation of a <strong>1 kW<\/strong> rooftop solar plant<\/li>\n<li><strong>\u20b930,000 subsidy<\/strong> for installation of <strong>2 kW or higher-capacity<\/strong> solar plants<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Chief Minister emphasized that increased adoption of rooftop solar systems would eventually enable households to transition from half-rate electricity to completely free electricity in the future.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Strengthening Energy Security and Social Welfare<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Shri Sai said the government\u2019s top priority is providing affordable, uninterrupted, and high-quality electricity to every household.
