TFP Bureau, Raipur, November 21, 2025: The Chhattisgarh State Wetland Authority has rolled out an extensive community-driven conservation initiative titled Wetland Mitra Abhiyaan<\/em>, following directives from Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap. The campaign seeks to enhance public participation in the preservation and sustainable management of wetlands across the state, recognising their ecological significance and vulnerability.<\/p>\n

The initiative encourages environmentally conscious citizens to register as \u201cWetland Mitras\u201d by scanning a designated QR code and completing an online form. Once registered, participants gain access to training programmes, awareness workshops, and detailed information on wetland conservation practices. They are also expected to assist officials by reporting illegal encroachments, identifying ecological changes, and helping disseminate conservation-related information at the grassroots level.<\/p>\n

Officials stated that the response to the campaign has been overwhelmingly positive. More than 500 Wetland Mitras have registered across Chhattisgarh, signalling a growing public commitment to environmental stewardship. In Korba district alone, around 200 registered Wetland Mitras are actively supporting local conservation efforts through monitoring activities and community outreach.\"\"<\/p>\n

The campaign has not only strengthened coordination between citizens and the Forest Department but has also helped spread scientific knowledge about wetland biodiversity, ecological value, and sustainable usage practices. Wetland Mitras, acting as a bridge between government agencies and local communities, are playing a crucial role in improving wetland health and reinforcing community responsibility.<\/p>\n

Officials noted that the initiative will form an important pillar of the state\u2019s long-term environmental conservation strategy.
