\nChhattisgarh took a significant step toward strengthening its urban housing infrastructure on Sunday as Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated a series of major residential projects worth Rs 2,060 crore under the Chhattisgarh Housing Board. The announcement was made during the inauguration of the three-day State-Level Housing Expo at BTI Ground, Shankar Nagar, an event that drew considerable public interest from its opening hours.<\/p>\n
The newly launched 55 projects, to be developed across 26 districts, are expected to deliver more than 12,000 affordable and quality homes targeted at middle-income, lower-income, and economically weaker families. The initiatives aim to bridge the housing gap in several urban and semi-urban regions, aligning with both state and national objectives to provide safe, durable, and affordable housing for all.<\/p>\n
During the inauguration, the Chief Minister also unveiled an AI-powered chatbot and a dedicated digital portal of the Housing Board, designed to ensure quick access to project details, availability, allotment procedures, and consumer support\u2014marking a significant step in making the system more transparent and citizen-friendly.<\/p>\n
Commending the Housing Board\u2019s momentum, Shri Sai said the current leadership of the Board has shown remarkable energy in developing new ideas and modern approaches for affordable housing. He emphasised that the state government has already cleared pending loans worth Rs 790 crore, allowing the Board to plan with improved financial stability and a forward-looking strategy.<\/p>\n
Referring to national housing initiatives, the Chief Minister highlighted the scale and speed of work being implemented under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural). \u201cIn the past two years, Chhattisgarh has approved houses for nearly twenty-six lakh beneficiaries,\u201d he said. He also noted that 32,000 homes have been sanctioned under the PM Janman Yojana for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups and that 15,000 homes have been approved in Bastar for surrendered Naxalites and families affected by left-wing extremism.<\/p>\n
As part of the ceremony, the Chief Minister handed over booking certificates, keys, and freehold certificates to several beneficiaries and new allottees, congratulating them on the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.<\/p>\n
Speaker Dr Raman Singh praised the Housing Board\u2019s renewed efficiency, noting the strong public response visible at the expo. He lauded the Chief Minister\u2019s commitment to expanding housing access, adding that the government has allocated nearly Rs 14,000 crore in the state budget to support housing-related programmes. He expressed confidence that ongoing and upcoming projects will receive widespread public support.<\/p>\n
Housing and Environment Minister Shri O.P. Choudhary expressed gratitude for the reforms initiated under the Chief Minister\u2019s leadership, which have helped revive the Housing Board\u2019s financial health. He stated that the Board has become debt-free after clearing Rs 790 crore of outstanding liabilities and has achieved business worth Rs 672 crore within a year. He highlighted concessions on land diversion and freehold charges as key decisions that have eased the burden on both consumers and the Board, allowing future projects to be planned according to real demand.<\/p>\n
Housing Board Chairman Shri Anurag Singhdev said the Board is committed to ensuring that homes are constructed in every district of the state, with plans to soon launch dedicated residential projects in each assembly constituency.<\/p>\n
The housing expo, scheduled to run until November 25, witnessed significant footfall on its opening day. Interested citizens visited information counters to explore housing options, gather details about upcoming projects, and make booking enquiries.<\/p>\n
