TFP Bureau, Raipur, November 26, 2025: <\/em>The Chhattisgarh Government has released a comprehensive two-year progress report of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department, highlighting major reforms in procurement, distribution, and food security systems across the state.<\/p>\n

According to the report, the State Food Security Amendment Act, 2019, is being implemented effectively to ensure that all eligible families\u2014including poor and economically weaker households\u2014receive food grains and essential commodities without disruption.<\/p>\n

Support Price Hike and Paddy Procurement<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The government has raised the support price of paddy from \u20b92,300 to \u20b93,100 per quintal<\/strong>, benefitting nearly 25 lakh farmers. A new procurement policy for 2024\u201325 has also been introduced.
\nWith 2,739 procurement centres<\/strong> functioning statewide, farmers have sold over 54 lakh metric tonnes<\/strong> of paddy since procurement began on November 15. The state has sanctioned \u20b915,000 crore in bank guarantees<\/strong> to the Chhattisgarh Marketing Federation (MARKFED) to ensure timely payments.<\/p>\n

Expanded Public Distribution System<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The number of ration card beneficiaries has increased to 82.11 lakh<\/strong>, covering 89% of the state\u2019s estimated population. Nearly 7.96 lakh new ration cards<\/strong> and 11.83 lakh new members<\/strong> have been added in the past two years.
\nA total of 14,073 fair price shops<\/strong> are operational, including 311 newly approved shops. A major ration card renewal exercise\u2014conducted between January and May 2025\u2014successfully updated 73.94 lakh ration cards<\/strong>, eliminating duplication and errors.<\/p>\n

Distribution Under Welfare Schemes<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Between January 2024 and October 2025, the state distributed:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • 49.11 lakh tonnes of fortified rice<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • 19,197 tonnes of pulses<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • 1.03 lakh tonnes of salt<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • 1.89 lakh tonnes of iodised oil<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • 1.39 lakh tonnes of sugar<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    GPS-based tracking and digital monitoring through an Integrated Command and Control Centre have strengthened transparency across the PDS network.<\/p>\n

    Special Support for Tribal and Remote Regions<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Under the Funnel Udayana Scheme<\/strong>, 42,220 families<\/strong> in selected blocks of five tribal districts\u2014Jagdalpur, Sukma, Narayanpur, Dantewada and Kanker\u2014received monthly supplies of food grains and essential commodities. Eighteen new fair price shops have also been approved in these areas.<\/p>\n

    Mukhyamantri Mitan Yojana<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    To promote women\u2019s health, 38 lakh women<\/strong> have been provided sanitary pads under the Mukhyamantri Mitan Yojana. Preparations are underway for the next phase of distribution in 2025.<\/p>\n

    Roadmap Ahead<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Key upcoming initiatives include full integration of the PDS under the Smart-PDS system<\/strong>, providing online services in remote areas, and constructing dedicated buildings for over 6,500 fair price shops currently operating from rented premises.<\/p>\n
