TFP Bureau, Raipur, December 26, 2025: In a significant step towards modernising urban governance and expanding citizen-centric digital services, the Urban Administration and Development Department has made the online property tax payment facility available in 53 urban local bodies across Chhattisgarh. The initiative allows residents to pay property tax anytime and from anywhere, eliminating the need to visit municipal offices or stand in long queues.<\/p>\n
The online facility, which was earlier limited to seven municipal corporations\u2014Raipur, Durg, Risali, Bhilai, Bilaspur, Korba and Raigarh\u2014has been substantially expanded this year. In August 2025, the state government extended the service to three more municipal corporations\u2014Birgaon, Bhilai-Charoda and Dhamtari\u2014along with 43 municipal councils. With this expansion, citizens across 53 urban local bodies can now pay property tax through the GIS-based Property Tax Live Portal.<\/p>\n
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai formally launched the GIS-based Property Tax Live Portal for 43 municipal councils on August 12 during the \u2018Swachhta Sangam\u2019 programme organised in Bilaspur. Since then, online property tax payment has gained steady traction, even in geographically remote and tribal-dominated regions of the state.<\/p>\n
Municipal councils now covered under the facility include Tilda-Neora, Gobranawapara, Arang, Gariaband, Balodabazar, Bhatapara, Mahasamund, Bagbahara, Saraipali, Kumhari, Ahiwara, Jamul, Balod, Dalli Rajhara, Bemetara, Dongargarh, Khairagarh, Kawardha, Kondagaon, Narayanpur, Kanker, Kirandul, Bade Bacheli, Dantewada, Sukma, Bijapur, Takhatpur, Ratanpur, Mungeli, Dipka, Katghora, Janjgir-Naila, Champa, Sakti, Akaltara, Kharsia, Sarangarh, Jashpur Nagar, Balrampur, Surajpur, Manendragarh, Baikunthpur and Shivpur Charcha.<\/p>\n
Expressing satisfaction over the successful rollout, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said providing transparent, simple and convenient services to every citizen remains the state government\u2019s top priority. He said the online property tax payment system is a major step towards reducing procedural hurdles and improving ease of living in urban areas.<\/p>\n
The Chief Minister noted that it was particularly encouraging to see residents of remote areas such as Kondagaon, Narayanpur, Kanker, Dantewada, Sukma and Bijapur adopting digital platforms to pay taxes from their homes. He described this as a key milestone in strengthening local self-governance and realising the vision of \u2018Digital Chhattisgarh\u2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur aim is to make urban services fully online and citizen-centric so that every family benefits from convenience, transparency and time savings,\u201d Shri Sai said.<\/p>\n
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao said the initiative has already benefited lakhs of urban residents by simplifying tax payment and enhancing transparency. He added that the system reduces the scope for corruption, saves citizens\u2019 time and improves the efficiency of municipal administration.<\/p>\n
