<\/p>\nTFP Bureau, Raipur, December 30, 2025: President of India Smt Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday lauded the skills, creativity and self-reliance of tribal women from Jashpur district, particularly those associated with the \u2018Jashcraft\u2019 initiative, during the inter-state folk cultural congregation Kartika Jatra held at Gumla in neighbouring Jharkhand. Appreciating the jewellery and eco-friendly products crafted by women self-help groups, the President described their work as a powerful example of women-led empowerment rooted in traditional knowledge and sustainable livelihoods.<\/p>\n
The President specifically praised the products prepared by women of the Van Prabandhan Samiti Shabdmunda self-help group from Kotanpani village under the Jashpur Forest Division. She said the handicrafts and ornaments made by these women reflect the richness of tribal creativity, cultural preservation and economic self-reliance. Such initiatives, she noted, not only strengthen livelihood opportunities but also give national recognition to indigenous art forms and community-based enterprise.<\/p>\n
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, who attended the Kartika Jatra at Manjhatoli in Jharkhand, termed the President\u2019s appreciation a moment of pride for the entire state. He said the recognition of Jashpur\u2019s tribal women power, especially those associated with Jashcraft, underscores Chhattisgarh\u2019s steady progress on the path of tribal pride and inclusive development. The jewellery and eco-friendly products made by women from Kotanpani village, he added, are living symbols of the state\u2019s rich cultural heritage, the hard work of tribal communities and the creative strength of women.<\/p>\n
The Chief Minister said the encouragement and blessings received from President Murmu would further boost the confidence of tribal women, strengthen the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat and reinforce the national call for Vocal for Local. On behalf of the tribal women of Jashpur, he expressed heartfelt gratitude to the President for recognising their efforts on a national platform.<\/p>\n
The Kartika Jatra featured exhibitions of tribal handicrafts, folk art and products prepared by self-help groups from different states. The Chhattisgarh delegation drew considerable attention by showcasing Jashpur\u2019s distinctive craft traditions and locally made products, sending a strong message of tribal empowerment through culture-based livelihoods.<\/p>\n
Addressing the gathering, President Murmu emphasised the importance of connecting the younger generation with tribal traditions while equipping them to move forward on the path of modern development. She said preserving tribal identity, language and culture must go hand in hand with education, innovation and economic progress, and expressed confidence that tribal communities would continue to advance while safeguarding their heritage.<\/p>\n
Chief Minister Sai said it was a matter of pride and faith for him to participate in the inter-state folk cultural congregation Kartika Jatra, which he described as a bridge connecting tribal communities across state boundaries. He noted that such cultural confluences strengthen social unity and reaffirm shared values rooted in tradition and mutual respect.<\/p>\n
Referring to the observance of November 15 as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, the Chief Minister said the initiative taken under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to commemorate the birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda has deepened the sense of self-respect and historical awareness among tribal communities. He said Lord Birsa Munda was not only a freedom fighter but also a symbol of the protection of forests, water and land, whose legacy continues to inspire tribal society.<\/p>\n
The Chief Minister also recalled the contributions of leaders like Shri Pankajraj Saheb Kartik Oraon towards education, social unity and preservation of tribal identity, saying their work laid the foundation for sustained progress in tribal regions.<\/p>\n
Speaking on development and security, Shri Sai said there was a time when Naxalism obstructed growth in the Bastar region, depriving people of basic facilities such as roads, electricity, healthcare, education and drinking water. However, due to the firm leadership and clear policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, the situation has undergone a significant transformation. He said development works are now progressing rapidly, governance is reaching remote villages and security arrangements have been strengthened.<\/p>\n
The Chief Minister said Naxalism is now in its final phase, with more than 400 villages freed from its influence. Roads, electricity, ration supply, healthcare services and educational facilities are becoming accessible in these areas, bringing renewed hope to local communities. He added that focused efforts to promote tourism in tribal regions will also generate new employment opportunities for youth.<\/p>\n
Shri Sai further said it was a matter of satisfaction that the creation of states like Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand was realised under the visionary leadership of former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Today, he said, these states are moving ahead with distinct identities and rapid development. Expressing optimism, the Chief Minister said such cultural gatherings will continue to spread the message of peace, progress and prosperity, and that the chapter of decisive victory over Naxalism will be completed in the near future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
