<\/p>\nTFP Bureau, Raipur, December 31, 2025: In a major step towards strengthening healthcare delivery in remote and forested tribal regions, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai on Wednesday flagged off 57 Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) at Nava Raipur under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN). The initiative aims to ensure regular and accessible healthcare services for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) living in difficult-to-reach areas of Chhattisgarh.<\/p>\n
With the deployment of these Mobile Medical Units, healthcare services will now reach the doorsteps of people residing in more than 2,100 villages and habitations spread across 18 districts of the state. Over two lakh members of PVTG communities are expected to directly benefit from this programme, which has been designed keeping in mind the challenges faced by tribal families in accessing hospitals and health centres due to geographical isolation and lack of transport facilities.<\/p>\n
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Shri Sai said that families living in hilly, forested and inaccessible regions will now receive medical examinations, treatment and essential medicines within their own villages. Describing the initiative as a \u201cstrong foundation for inclusive healthcare and social participation,\u201d he said the government is committed to ensuring health security for the most marginalized sections of society.<\/p>\n
Calling the launch a proud moment for the state, the Chief Minister said that the most socially, economically and educationally deprived communities belong to the PVTG category. He noted that out of Chhattisgarh\u2019s population of nearly three crore, around 2.30 lakh PVTG individuals reside in over 2,100 habitations across 18 districts. \u201cThese Mobile Medical Units will prove to be a boon for such families, for whom access to basic healthcare has remained a major challenge for decades,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Each of the 57 fully equipped MMUs will be staffed with a doctor, nurse, laboratory technician, pharmacist and trained local health volunteers. The units will offer 25 types of diagnostic tests and provide 106 types of essential medicines free of cost. Regular health camps will be organized every 15 days, and patients requiring advanced care will be promptly referred to nearby health institutions.<\/p>\n
Chief Minister Shri Sai congratulated Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, Chairman of Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation Shri Deepak Mhaske, and all officers and staff associated with the initiative for the successful rollout of the programme.<\/p>\n
Speaking on the occasion, Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal said that both Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai are working with deep commitment towards the upliftment of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups. He said the MMUs are specifically meant for remote forest areas where healthcare access has traditionally been limited. Dedicating all 57 vehicles to the state, he said the initiative reflects the Prime Minister\u2019s vision of last-mile delivery of essential services and thanked the Union Government for extending support to Chhattisgarh under the PM-JANMAN scheme.<\/p>\n
Health Secretary Shri Amit Kataria informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the PM-JANMAN scheme on November 15, 2023, with the objective of ensuring social and economic empowerment of PVTGs by delivering basic facilities directly to their habitations. He said the MMUs will play a crucial role in early detection and prevention of diseases such as tuberculosis, malaria, anemia and malnutrition. In emergency situations, patients will be quickly referred to nearby health centres through a coordinated referral system.<\/p>\n
Earlier, due to limited resources and lack of infrastructure, regular healthcare services could not reach these remote areas consistently. With the addition of new vehicles, modern equipment and trained manpower, the system will now function continuously and efficiently.
