TFP Bureau, Raipur, February 7, 2026: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai on Friday described the India\u2013United States Interim Trade Agreement framework as a historic and forward-looking step that will open new economic opportunities for Chhattisgarh while further enhancing India\u2019s credibility and standing in the global economy. He said the agreement, shaped under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, reflects India\u2019s growing economic strength and its ability to engage major global partners on equal and mutually beneficial terms.<\/p>\n
Highlighting the potential impact on the state, the Chief Minister said the interim trade framework is expected to significantly improve access to the United States market for Chhattisgarh\u2019s micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). He noted that sectors such as forest-based products, handloom and handicrafts, textiles, food processing and agriculture-linked industries stand to gain from increased export opportunities, higher investments and the creation of new jobs.<\/p>\n
Shri Sai said that Chhattisgarh\u2019s rich natural resources and traditional industries would receive global exposure through the agreement, helping local producers and artisans connect with international value chains. \u201cThis trade framework will create fresh avenues for our youth, entrepreneurs and small businesses by linking them to global markets and modern supply networks,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The Chief Minister underlined that the agreement has been carefully structured to protect the interests of farmers and rural livelihoods. He said adequate safeguards have been built in to ensure that domestic agriculture and allied sectors remain secure while benefitting from expanded trade and cooperation. According to him, the agreement would also contribute to women\u2019s empowerment by creating new opportunities in sectors where women play a significant role, particularly in handicrafts, handloom and agro-based enterprises.<\/p>\n
Shri Sai further stated that the interim trade pact would strengthen the global branding of local products from Chhattisgarh, helping them reach wider markets under the broader vision of the Make in India initiative. He added that improved trade ties with the United States would encourage technology transfer, innovation and best practices, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of local industries.<\/p>\n
Reiterating the long-term significance of the agreement, the Chief Minister said the India\u2013US Interim Trade Agreement is aligned with the national goal of Viksit Bharat 2047. He affirmed that Chhattisgarh is fully prepared to play an active and constructive role in India\u2019s growth story and that the agreement would give fresh momentum to the state\u2019s journey towards inclusive, balanced and sustainable economic development.<\/p>\n
