TFP Bureau, Raipur, March 10, 2026: In a significant policy meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the Cabinet of Chhattisgarh approved a series of major decisions aimed at strengthening the government recruitment system, promoting renewable energy and accelerating urban housing and infrastructure development. The meeting was held at the Chief Minister\u2019s office in the Chhattisgarh Vidhan Sabha premises in Raipur, where several legislative proposals and policy initiatives were discussed in detail.<\/p>\n
One of the most important decisions taken during the meeting was the approval of the draft of the Chhattisgarh Staff Selection Board Bill, 2026. The proposed board will be constituted to conduct examinations and select candidates for technical and non-technical posts in the third and fourth categories across various departments of the state government. The move is expected to streamline the recruitment process and ensure a transparent and efficient system for filling thousands of government posts in the coming years.<\/p>\n
Along with this reform, the Cabinet also approved the draft of the Chhattisgarh Public Recruitment and Professional Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill, 2026. The proposed legislation aims to prevent irregularities such as cheating, impersonation, paper leaks and other unfair practices in recruitment and professional examinations. Officials said the new law will enhance credibility, transparency and public confidence in the examination system.<\/p>\n
Promotion of renewable energy and environmentally sustainable technologies was another major focus of the Cabinet meeting. The government approved subsidy provisions for projects based on non-conventional energy sources. Under the proposal, the Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA) will provide a state subsidy of \u20b91.50 lakh for Solar Highmast installations during the financial years 2024\u201325 and 2025\u201326. From 2026\u201327 onwards, the subsidy will be fixed at 30 percent of the tender rate or \u20b91.50 lakh, whichever is lower.<\/p>\n
The Cabinet also approved financial assistance for domestic biogas plants to encourage the use of clean energy in rural and urban households. A subsidy of \u20b99,000 per plant has been approved for biogas units with capacities ranging from two to six cubic metres for the financial years 2024\u201325 and 2025\u201326. From 2026\u201327 onwards, the same subsidy will continue for all capacities of domestic biogas plants. The initiative is expected to promote sustainable energy use while reducing dependence on conventional fuels.<\/p>\n
Urban development and housing infrastructure were also key issues discussed during the meeting. The Cabinet approved the draft of the Chhattisgarh Town and Country Planning (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which aims to strengthen urban planning regulations and facilitate better management of expanding cities. The Cabinet also approved amendments to the Chhattisgarh Housing Board Act, 1972 to improve the functioning of the state housing board and accelerate housing development projects.<\/p>\n
In another major relief measure, the Cabinet approved the draft of the Chhattisgarh Cess (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which proposes the abolition of an additional cess on property registration. In 2023, an additional cess of 12 percent over the applicable stamp duty had been imposed to fund the Rajiv Gandhi Mitan Club Scheme. As the scheme is no longer operational, the Cabinet decided to abolish the cess, providing relief to property buyers and promoting real estate transactions.<\/p>\n
The Cabinet also approved the draft of the Chhattisgarh Freedom of Religion Bill, 2026. The proposed law seeks to curb religious conversions carried out through force, inducement, fraud or misrepresentation. According to the government, the legislation has been drafted to ensure that freedom of religion is protected while preventing unlawful conversions.<\/p>\n
Another decision taken during the meeting was the withdrawal of 13 cases identified as politically motivated. These cases were related to political protests and movements and were recommended for withdrawal by a Cabinet Sub-Committee constituted to examine such matters.<\/p>\n
The Cabinet further approved a draft amendment proposing changes to Sections 40, 50 and 59 of the Chhattisgarh Land Revenue Code, 1959 to improve land administration and revenue management.<\/p>\n
In a move to strengthen sports infrastructure, the Cabinet also approved the allotment of five acres of government land to the District Cricket Association in Rajnandgaon. A modern cricket stadium and training academy will be developed on the site to encourage young athletes and promote cricket in the region.<\/p>\n
Officials said the decisions taken during the Cabinet meeting reflect the government\u2019s focus on transparent recruitment, clean energy promotion, better urban planning and infrastructure expansion across Chhattisgarh.
