{"id":6416,"date":"2026-03-14T16:26:39","date_gmt":"2026-03-14T16:26:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thefrontpage24.com\/?p=6416"},"modified":"2026-03-14T16:26:39","modified_gmt":"2026-03-14T16:26:39","slug":"chhattisgarh-allocates-%e2%82%b922466-crore-for-school-education-in-2026-27-budget","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefrontpage24.com\/?p=6416","title":{"rendered":"Chhattisgarh allocates \u20b922,466 crore for school education in 2026\u201327 Budget"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4><em>Government announces 5,000 teacher recruitment, new excellence schools, smart classrooms and digital initiatives to modernise education system<\/em><\/h4>\n<p>TFP Bureau, Raipur, March 13,2026: The Chhattisgarh government has allocated \u20b922,466 crore for the School Education Department in the 2026\u201327 Budget, with a focus on strengthening infrastructure, expanding digital learning and improving the quality of education across the state.<\/p>\n<p>Presenting the details during the budget session of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, School Education Minister Gajendra Yadav said the allocation marks a significant step towards transforming the state\u2019s education system into a modern, inclusive and high-quality framework.<\/p>\n<p>The minister said the government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, has placed education at the centre of its development agenda. He also expressed gratitude to the state leadership for prioritising investment in the sector.<\/p>\n<h4>Modern facilities under PM-SHRI scheme<\/h4>\n<p>The state government plans to upgrade schools with modern facilities under the PM-SHRI Scheme of the Government of India. A budget provision of \u20b9250 crore has been made for this initiative.<\/p>\n<p>These schools will be developed with facilities such as green campuses, smart classrooms, digital libraries, modern laboratories, sports infrastructure and career counselling services. Teachers will also receive specialised training through leading educational institutions to enhance teaching quality.<\/p>\n<p>Student progress in these schools will be assessed through a holistic report card system that evaluates both academic performance and overall development.<\/p>\n<h4>150 Swami Vivekananda Excellence Schools in rural areas<\/h4>\n<p>In a major initiative aimed at improving educational access in rural regions, the government has announced the establishment of 150 Swami Vivekananda Utkrisht Vidyalaya (Excellence Schools).<\/p>\n<p>A budget allocation of \u20b9100 crore has been earmarked for these institutions, which will be set up in rural sectors of administrative blocks across the state. The initiative is expected to provide students in rural areas access to quality education and modern learning resources.<\/p>\n<h4>Education Cities planned for Bastar region<\/h4>\n<p>The government has also unveiled plans to establish \u201cEducation Cities\u201d in remote tribal areas of the Bastar division to strengthen educational access in forest and tribal regions.<\/p>\n<p>A provision of \u20b99.50 crore has been made to develop such centres in Orchha in Abujhmad, Narayanpur district and Jagargunda in Sukma district. These centres aim to bring advanced educational facilities closer to students living in remote forested areas and help integrate them into the mainstream education system.<\/p>\n<h4>Major investment in school infrastructure<\/h4>\n<p>To strengthen school infrastructure across the state, the government has earmarked \u20b9105.20 crore for construction and maintenance works.<\/p>\n<p>This includes the construction of new buildings for 500 primary schools, 100 upper primary schools, 50 high schools and 50 higher secondary schools. Funds will also be used to renovate and maintain existing school buildings to ensure safe, clean and conducive learning environments for students.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, a modern administrative complex for the School Education Department will be built in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar. An initial allocation of \u20b95.90 crore has been made for the project.<\/p>\n<p>The complex will house key institutions such as the Directorate of Public Instruction, Samagra Shiksha office, the Sanskrit Board, Madrasa Board, the Education Commission, the Textbook Corporation and the Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education.<\/p>\n<h4>Recruitment of 5,000 teachers<\/h4>\n<p>Addressing the shortage of teaching staff in government schools, the state government has announced direct recruitment for 5,000 teacher posts. The recruitment examinations are scheduled to be conducted in October and November 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside fresh recruitment, the government has also initiated the process to promote staff to more than 4,000 vacant positions in the education department.<\/p>\n<p>Officials said these measures are expected to significantly improve the teacher\u2013student ratio and enhance the quality of classroom instruction.<\/p>\n<h4>Focus on nutrition through mid-day meals<\/h4>\n<p>The government has also emphasised student health and nutrition through the Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman Yojana.<\/p>\n<p>A budget allocation of \u20b9700 crore has been made for the programme, which provides mid-day meals to students in government schools, government-aided institutions and registered madrasas.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly 30 lakh children across the state are expected to benefit from the scheme. Schools will also be encouraged to develop kitchen gardens to supply fresh and nutritious vegetables for students\u2019 meals.<\/p>\n<h4>Digital education initiatives<\/h4>\n<p>The state government is expanding digital education initiatives to improve monitoring and learning outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>Through the Vidya Samiksha Kendra and the HRMIS portal, online attendance of around 1.8 lakh teachers is currently being tracked.<\/p>\n<p>Plans are also underway to make students\u2019 mark sheets and transfer certificates available online with QR codes and unique identification numbers, allowing digital verification of documents.<\/p>\n<p>Under the PM e-VIDYA programme, subject-wise lessons for students in Classes 9 to 12 are being broadcast through DTH channels. Six subjects are taught daily through televised sessions, which are repeated four times to allow flexible learning.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities are also planning to develop a mobile application to enable interactive learning between teachers and students.<\/p>\n<h4>Smart classes and expert teaching<\/h4>\n<p>To enhance classroom learning, smart class facilities equipped with projectors and internet connectivity are being introduced in schools. Video-based learning materials and online sessions by expert teachers are also being provided through video conferencing platforms.<\/p>\n<p>These initiatives aim to supplement classroom teaching and provide students access to high-quality academic resources.<\/p>\n<h4>Promotion of sports and physical education<\/h4>\n<p>The government also plans to strengthen sports and extracurricular activities in schools. Programmes such as yoga education, the National Cadet Corps, National Service Scheme, Scouts and Guides and the Red Cross will be introduced or expanded in schools across the state.<\/p>\n<p>Sports and physical training sessions will be made mandatory during the final period of the school day to promote fitness and encourage student participation in sports.<\/p>\n<p>Officials said physical training programmes will also help prepare interested students for recruitment into the armed forces under initiatives such as Agnipath Scheme.<\/p>\n<h4>Other key allocations<\/h4>\n<p>The state government has also announced several major allocations for various student welfare schemes and education programmes.
