Environment Board Imposes \u20b928.92 Lakh Compensation, Orders Strict Compliance with Pollution Control Norms<\/em><\/h4>\n

TFP Bureau, Raipur, March 27, 2026: The Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board has taken strict action against industries violating environmental norms, ordering the closure of 30 industrial units and imposing environmental compensation of \u20b928.92 lakh on 13 units for pollution-related violations.<\/p>\n

The action is part of the Board\u2019s ongoing monitoring of industrial units responsible for air and water pollution. Regular inspections conducted by the Board\u2019s Regional Office in Raipur found several industries violating provisions of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, and the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974.<\/p>\n

Officials said that since January 2026, notices have been issued to 23 industries after polluting activities were detected during inspections. Among the major units served notices are sponge iron industries located in the Urla and Siltara industrial areas, including Vaswani Industries Ltd., Shilpi Steels Pvt. Ltd., and SKS Ispat & Power Ltd.<\/p>\n

A separate notice has also been issued to Sarda Energy & Minerals Ltd. for the unauthorized dumping of fly ash.<\/p>\n

According to the Board, many of the units failed to take satisfactory corrective measures even after receiving notices. In several cases, industries continued operations without the mandatory consent of the Board, while pollution complaints from the public were also reported.<\/p>\n

Following these violations, the Board ordered the suspension of production and disconnection of electricity supply to 30 industries.<\/p>\n

Officials clarified that the affected units will not be allowed to resume operations until they fully comply with environmental standards, statutory provisions, and the conditions specified in their consent orders.<\/p>\n

In addition to the closure orders, environmental compensation amounting to \u20b928.92 lakh has been imposed on 13 industries found responsible for violating environmental regulations.<\/p>\n

The Environment Conservation Board stated that strict monitoring will continue in the larger interest of public health and environmental protection. It has urged industrial units and concerned government departments to ensure strict compliance with environmental norms and timely implementation of regulatory directives.<\/p>\n

The Board also warned that stringent action against non-compliant industries will continue in the future to ensure environmental safety and sustainable industrial operations in the state.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
