Projects to Improve Connectivity and Ensure Faster, Safer Commuting Across Key Districts<\/strong><\/p>\n

Raipur, April 6, 2026: In a major step toward strengthening road infrastructure and easing traffic congestion across the state, the Chhattisgarh Public Works Department (PWD) has sanctioned more than \u20b9448.13 crore for the construction and development of nine bypass roads during the financial year 2025\u201326. The projects are aimed at diverting heavy traffic away from crowded urban stretches, improving road safety and ensuring smoother vehicular movement.<\/p>\n

Deputy Chief Minister and Public Works Minister Shri Arun Sao had directed officials to prioritize bypass road construction in districts facing increasing traffic pressure. The sanction of funds was made after assessing local requirements and public demand for better road connectivity.<\/p>\n

According to the Public Works Department, three bypass projects have been approved in Raigarh district, while two bypass roads each will be constructed in Dhamtari and Balodabazar districts. Additional projects have also been approved in Bilaspur and Bemetara districts.<\/p>\n

Major projects in Raigarh district<\/h4>\n

Raigarh district has received the largest share of the sanctioned funds with three major bypass projects. The department has approved \u20b9152.17 crore for the construction of a six-kilometre-long Tamnar bypass road, which is expected to significantly reduce traffic pressure in the area and facilitate smoother transportation.<\/p>\n

In addition, \u20b970.47 crore has been sanctioned for the development of a Ring Road or bypass route within Raigarh city to help divert heavy vehicles away from congested city roads.<\/p>\n

Another \u20b97.22 crore has been approved for widening and strengthening a two-kilometre stretch of Kharsia Bypass No. 3, connecting Kabir Chowk to Dabhra Road. The improvement of this route is expected to enhance traffic flow and road safety in the region.<\/p>\n

New bypass roads in Dhamtari<\/h4>\n

In Dhamtari district, the Public Works Department has approved two bypass projects aimed at improving connectivity and reducing traffic bottlenecks in key areas.<\/p>\n

A sum of \u20b914.94 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of the four-kilometre-long Bhakhara bypass road. Additionally, \u20b97.97 crore has been allocated for the development of the 1.50-kilometre-long Nari bypass route. These projects are expected to facilitate smoother transport movement and reduce congestion in surrounding settlements.<\/p>\n

Balodabazar projects to strengthen regional connectivity<\/h4>\n

Balodabazar district will also benefit from two important bypass road projects designed to enhance inter-district connectivity and ease the movement of vehicles.<\/p>\n

The department has sanctioned \u20b988.68 crore for the construction of a 15-kilometre-long Balodabazar bypass road passing through Latuwa and Pangaon. Another \u20b920.99 crore has been approved for the seven-kilometre-long Risda bypass route. Both projects are expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion on existing roads and improve connectivity to nearby regions.<\/p>\n

Additional projects in Bilaspur and Bemetara<\/h4>\n

The Public Works Department has also approved \u20b982.80 crore for the development of the 13.40-kilometre-long Koni\u2013Mopka four-lane bypass road in Bilaspur district. The project aims to improve traffic management and provide an alternative route for vehicles entering and exiting the city.<\/p>\n

In Bemetara district, \u20b92.89 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of a 1.20-kilometre-long concretized bypass road at Chirha, which will help streamline local traffic movement and enhance road durability.<\/p>\n

Government prioritising modern road infrastructure<\/h4>\n

Deputy Chief Minister and Public Works Minister Shri Arun Sao said the state government is committed to improving road infrastructure across both urban and rural areas. He said bypass roads, bridges and overbridges are being developed on priority to ensure faster, safer and more organised transportation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe State Government is fully committed to ensuring seamless, rapid and safe traffic movement. Construction of bypass roads and modern road infrastructure will help reduce congestion and make commuting smoother and more efficient while supporting the overall development of the state,\u201d Shri Sao said.<\/p>\n

Officials noted that the newly sanctioned projects are expected to significantly improve traffic management, strengthen regional connectivity and support economic activities by ensuring smoother transport movement across several districts of Chhattisgarh.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
