Integrated Vision Focuses on Tourism, Start-ups, Infrastructure Expansion and Innovation-Led Growth in the Region<\/strong><\/p>\n

TFP Bureau, New Delhi, April 7, 2026: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Tuesday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and presented a comprehensive development blueprint titled \u201cBastar 2.0\u201d, outlining an ambitious roadmap for the next phase of growth and transformation in the Bastar region.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, the Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for the continued support of the Central Government in restoring peace and stability in Bastar. He said the significant decline of Naxalism in the region has created a conducive environment for development and opened new opportunities for economic progress and social transformation.<\/p>\n

Chief Minister Sai also invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Chhattisgarh after the monsoon season. He said the proposed visit would mark a major milestone for the region, with several key infrastructure and development projects expected to be launched or inaugurated in the Prime Minister\u2019s presence.<\/p>\n

Presenting the Bastar 2.0 development vision, the Chief Minister highlighted that the roadmap focuses on integrated and sustainable growth across sectors such as tourism, start-up development, infrastructure expansion, innovation and livelihood generation. The plan aims to harness Bastar\u2019s natural resources, cultural heritage and human potential to drive long-term prosperity and improve the quality of life for local communities.<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister informed the Prime Minister that with the elimination of Naxalism across most parts of the state, including Bastar, an atmosphere once dominated by fear and instability has now given way to optimism and renewed confidence among the people. He said the government is now focusing on strengthening education, healthcare and connectivity to ensure inclusive and balanced regional development.<\/p>\n

Under the development blueprint, several major initiatives are being undertaken in the education and healthcare sectors. These include the establishment of Education Cities, the expansion of super-specialty hospitals and the development of new medical colleges to strengthen higher education and advanced healthcare facilities in the region.<\/p>\n

\"\"Connectivity infrastructure is also being significantly enhanced through major projects such as railway network expansion, improvement of road connectivity and the development of airport facilities. The construction of barrages on the Indravati River and other irrigation projects is expected to strengthen agricultural productivity and improve water management in the region.<\/p>\n

Chief Minister Sai emphasised that the Bastar 2.0 strategy is based on five key pillars \u2014 Saturate, Connect, Facilitate, Empower and Engage \u2014 aimed at ensuring rapid expansion of basic services and infrastructure in remote areas. The plan prioritises the integration of previously isolated villages into the mainstream through improved transportation networks and better access to government services.<\/p>\n

As part of this initiative, the state government plans to complete pending works under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana by 2027. Additionally, 228 new road projects and 267 bridges are proposed to further strengthen connectivity across the Bastar region. Proposals for 61 additional development projects have also been submitted to the Central Government seeking special assistance.<\/p>\n

Significant progress is also planned in the energy and social infrastructure sectors. Efforts are underway to ensure universal electrification so that every household in the region receives reliable power supply. In the education sector, 45 existing Pota Cabin residential schools will be upgraded into permanent buildings, providing improved learning environments for tribal students.<\/p>\n

To encourage youth participation in sports and community activities, the plan also proposes the construction of 15 stadiums and two multipurpose halls across the region. Healthcare services are being expanded through the strengthening of Primary Health Centres and the construction of transit hostels for doctors to ensure the availability of medical professionals in remote areas.<\/p>\n

In the agriculture and irrigation sector, two major projects on the Indravati River at Deurgaon and Matnar have been approved. These projects are expected to bring irrigation facilities to nearly 31,840 hectares of farmland, significantly improving agricultural productivity and increasing farmers\u2019 incomes.<\/p>\n

The state government has also formulated a focused three-year livelihood plan aimed at doubling household incomes. The goal is to increase the monthly earnings of nearly 85 percent of families in the region from around \u20b915,000 to \u20b930,000 by the year 2029, thereby strengthening economic stability and improving living standards.<\/p>\n

The development initiative will also expand the Niyad Nellanar 2.0 programme to ensure wider outreach of government schemes. Initially implemented in 10 districts, the programme will now cover seven existing districts along with three newly included districts \u2014 Gariaband, Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki and Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai.<\/p>\n

A dedicated Startup Policy has also been introduced under the Anjor Vision 2047 and Viksit Bharat@2047 initiatives. The policy aims to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship with the target of nurturing 5,000 start-ups in the region by 2030, creating new employment opportunities for youth.<\/p>\n

In the tourism sector, efforts are being made to position Bastar as a major national and international tourist destination. Infrastructure development is underway at prominent attractions such as Chitrakote Waterfalls, Tirathgarh Waterfalls and Kanger Valley National Park. Adventure tourism initiatives including a canopy walk and a glass bridge are also being developed to attract visitors.<\/p>\n

\"\"Cultural and sporting events such as Bastar Olympics and Bastar Pandum are being promoted to highlight the region\u2019s rich tribal heritage and strengthen community participation. At the same time, large-scale skill development programmes are underway, with more than one lakh youth already trained, of whom nearly 40,000 have secured employment.<\/p>\n

Another key initiative under the Bastar development roadmap is the Bastar Munne programme. Under this initiative, camps will be organised in every Gram Panchayat to ensure the last-mile delivery of government services. Citizens will receive direct access to welfare schemes, documents will be issued on the spot and grievances will be addressed immediately in the presence of officials.<\/p>\n

Chief Minister Sai said that the Bastar 2.0 blueprint represents a decisive step toward building a peaceful, prosperous and development-driven future for the region. He expressed confidence that with the continued guidance and support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bastar will emerge as a model of inclusive growth and transformation in the coming years.<\/p>\n

Several major projects are proposed to be launched during the Prime Minister\u2019s expected visit to the region. These include the Raoghat\u2013Jagdalpur railway line, expansion of Jagdalpur Airport, construction of a super-specialty hospital, establishment of a medical college in Dantewada and the development of Education Cities in Jagargunda and Orchha.
