Chief Minister says women\u2019s aspirations will be fulfilled through Prime Minister\u2019s decisive leadership; highlights expanding role of women in governance and development<\/em><\/h3>\n

TFP Bureau, Raipur, April 16, 2026: <\/strong>Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Wednesday described the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, 2023 as one of the most significant decisions of the 21st century, stating that the landmark legislation will pave the way for greater participation of women in governance and decision-making across India.<\/p>\n

Addressing the Nari Shakti Vandan Maha Sammelan<\/strong> held at the Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium, the Chief Minister said the law reflects the strong will and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and marks a historic milestone in the journey of women\u2019s empowerment in the country.<\/p>\n

Extending greetings to women on the occasion, Sai said that in India\u2019s Sanatan cultural tradition, women have always held a position of great respect and reverence. Referring to the symbolism of the divine feminine in Indian culture, he noted that Goddess Lakshmi represents prosperity, Saraswati signifies knowledge, and Durga embodies power and courage.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlthough the idea of women\u2019s reservation had been discussed for many years, its decisive implementation became possible only under the strong leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,\u201d he said, adding that the legislation will ensure that women receive their rightful representation in legislative institutions and public life.<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister emphasised that the Act would strengthen women\u2019s leadership and create opportunities for their participation in governance \u201cfrom Panchayat to Parliament.\u201d According to him, this step will help build a more inclusive democratic structure and accelerate the country\u2019s journey towards a developed India.\"\"<\/p>\n

Highlighting government initiatives aimed at empowering women, Sai referred to flagship programmes such as the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Yojana and Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, which aim to promote the welfare, education and financial security of girls. He also spoke about the state government\u2019s Mahtari Vandan Yojana, under which nearly 70 lakh women in Chhattisgarh are receiving financial assistance of \u20b91,000 per month.<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister informed that the state government has declared the current year as \u201cMahtari Gaurav Varsh\u201d to celebrate and strengthen the role of women in society. The financial assistance being provided through the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, he said, is enabling women to enhance their participation in education, healthcare and livelihood activities, thereby promoting economic independence at the grassroots level.<\/p>\n

Sai also remarked that the situation in Bastar has improved significantly with the decline of Naxal violence, allowing development activities to progress rapidly in the region. He noted that the growing participation of women in governance is a key indicator of social progress and democratic strengthening.<\/p>\n

According to the Chief Minister, more than 14 lakh women are already serving in Panchayati Raj institutions in the state, demonstrating their leadership potential and growing confidence in public life. The Nari Shakti Vandan Act, he said, will further expand these opportunities by ensuring stronger representation of women in legislative bodies.<\/p>\n

During the programme, the Chief Minister felicitated several women participants with flowers and congratulated them for their contributions in various fields.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the occasion, Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Rajwade said women possess immense determination and leadership potential. When given responsibility and opportunities, she noted, women can play a transformative role in shaping the nation\u2019s future.<\/p>\n

Former Rajya Sabha Member Saroj Pandey stated that the Nari Shakti Vandan Act will be implemented by 2029, ensuring 33 percent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies. She said the move will guarantee fair and meaningful representation for women in the country\u2019s law-making institutions.<\/p>\n

The programme was attended by several public representatives and dignitaries, including Member of Parliament Roopkumari Choudhary, Member of Parliament Brijmohan Agrawal, Padma Shri awardee Usha Barle, MLA Purandar Mishra, Child Protection Commission Chairperson Varnika Sharma, and noted hockey player Neeta Dongre, along with a large number of women participants and citizens.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
