Schools will now remain closed from April 20 to June 15, instead of the earlier schedule that had fixed the vacation from May 1.<\/p>\n<p>Announcing the decision, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai emphasized that protecting children\u2019s health during periods of severe heat is the government\u2019s foremost responsibility. \u201cEnsuring the safety and well-being of children amidst rising temperatures is our collective duty at all costs,\u201d he said, underlining that the decision was taken purely in the interest of students.<\/p>\n<p>The move comes amid reports of soaring daytime temperatures and persistent heatwave conditions in several districts of the state. With mercury levels rising steadily and weather forecasts indicating continued extreme heat over the coming weeks, concerns had grown among parents, educators, and health experts regarding the impact on school-going children.<\/p>\n<p>According to an official order issued by the School Education Department from Mahanadi Bhawan in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar, the previously notified summer vacation period\u2014May 1 to June 15, 2026\u2014has been partially revised. The vacation will now commence from April 20, 2026, and continue until June 15, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The order applies uniformly to all categories of schools across Chhattisgarh, including government, government-aided, unaided, and private institutions. Authorities have directed school managements to ensure full compliance with the revised schedule.<\/p>\n<p>Officials stated that prolonged exposure to high temperatures can pose serious health risks to children, including dehydration, heat exhaustion, and heatstroke. Given that many schools operate during peak daytime hours, the early declaration of summer break is expected to minimize students\u2019 exposure to extreme weather conditions.<\/p>\n<p>The Chief Minister reiterated that the state government remains vigilant and responsive to climatic challenges, especially when it concerns the health of children. He said the administration will continue to monitor the weather situation closely and take further steps if required.<\/p>\n<p>Parents have largely welcomed the decision, expressing relief that the government acted promptly in response to the worsening heat conditions.
