Sai Cabinet clears compensation package to ensure uninterrupted road construction projects across the State<\/em><\/h3>\n

TFP Bureau, Raipur, May 26,2026: In a major push towards administrative efficiency and infrastructure continuity, the Chhattisgarh Cabinet on Tuesday approved a series of key decisions during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at Mahanadi Bhawan in Nava Raipur.<\/p>\n

Among the significant decisions, the Cabinet approved the extension of the Selling Agency Agreement with Government of India undertaking Metal Scrap Trading Corporation Limited (MSTC) for another three years. The move is aimed at ensuring transparent and systematic disposal of scrap and unserviceable materials accumulated in various State departments, public sector undertakings, corporations, boards and local bodies.<\/p>\n

The agreement, operational since November 2019, was scheduled to expire on May 31, 2026. Officials said MSTC\u2019s e-auction platform allows buyers from across the country to participate in competitive bidding, helping the State secure better value for scrap materials while ensuring transparency.<\/p>\n

The Cabinet observed that the arrangement has streamlined scrap disposal by making the process technology-driven and revenue-oriented. It also noted that departments would be spared the burden of conducting separate tendering and advertisement processes, resulting in savings of administrative time and resources. The decision is also expected to improve cleanliness and space management in government offices.<\/p>\n

In another important decision, the Cabinet approved a proposal to place the Chhattisgarh Employee Selection Board under the General Administration Department. Necessary amendments will be made to the \u201cChhattisgarh Government Business (Allocation) Rules\u201d to implement the change.<\/p>\n

The State Government stated that after the implementation of the \u201cChhattisgarh Employee Selection Board Act, 2026\u201d, the erstwhile Chhattisgarh Professional Examination Board had already been merged into the newly formed Employee Selection Board. All assets and liabilities of the previous body have also been transferred to the new institution.<\/p>\n

The Cabinet also decided to provide limited and partial price relief to contracted road construction agencies in view of the extraordinary rise in bitumen prices after April 1, 2026. The compensation will be applicable for the period between April 1 and June 30, 2026, with the aim of preventing disruption in ongoing road construction and maintenance works.<\/p>\n

According to the government, the compensation will only offset the impact of the exceptional increase in bitumen prices and will be calculated through a prescribed formula. Existing escalation provisions for other construction components under contracts will continue as per existing rules.<\/p>\n

Officials noted that rising global petroleum prices had begun affecting road surfacing works, creating concerns over delays in infrastructure projects. Similar relief measures have also been recommended by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for National Highway projects.<\/p>\n

The State Government said the decision would help ensure uninterrupted execution of road development works and enable citizens to receive the benefits of infrastructure projects within the stipulated timeframe.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
