TFP Bureau, Raipur, June 2,2026:<\/strong> A small grocery shop and a newly constructed bridge in the remote village of Kondapalli emerged as powerful symbols of Bastar\u2019s transformation when Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai visited Bijapur district on Tuesday as part of the ongoing Sushasan Tihar 2026 programme.<\/p>\n

During his visit, the Chief Minister stopped at a modest roadside grocery store run by Masa Tamo and his wife Jaymoti, former Naxalites who surrendered in October 2025 and have since rebuilt their lives with government support. The interaction offered a glimpse into the changing social landscape of Bastar, where rehabilitation and development initiatives are creating new opportunities for those returning to the mainstream.<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister purchased a bottle of water from the shop and spoke with the couple about their journey from insurgency to self-reliance. Encouraging them to continue their progress, he said that economic independence forms the strongest foundation for a dignified and secure future.<\/p>\n

Masa Tamo and Jaymoti both grew up in difficult circumstances and became associated with the Naxal movement at different stages of their lives. After years in the insurgency, they decided to abandon violence and surrendered before authorities in October last year. Their rehabilitation began at the Bijapur Rehabilitation Centre, where they received literacy education, skill training and assistance in accessing government welfare schemes.<\/p>\n

The administration facilitated essential documents, including Aadhaar cards, ration cards, Ayushman cards, MGNREGA job cards, caste certificates and bank accounts. Under the Saksham Yojana of the Women and Child Development Department, Jaymoti received a loan of \u20b91 lakh, enabling the couple to establish their grocery business in Kondapalli.<\/p>\n

Speaking with the Chief Minister, the couple said the shop has provided financial stability and renewed hope for the future. They credited the state government’s rehabilitation policy and administrative support for helping them rebuild their lives and regain their place in society.<\/p>\n

Describing their story as a reflection of a changing Bastar, Chief Minister Sai said that trust, opportunity and institutional support can successfully bring people back into the mainstream and help them lead dignified lives.<\/p>\n

Later, the Chief Minister inspected the newly constructed Bailey Bridge on the strategic Bijapur-Puwarti road corridor, another key project symbolising the region\u2019s transformation. Reviewing the bridge\u2019s construction and utility, he said roads and bridges are not merely infrastructure projects but lifelines that connect remote communities to education, healthcare, employment and development.<\/p>\n

Constructed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), the Bailey Bridge is part of efforts to improve connectivity in difficult and previously inaccessible areas. Officials informed the Chief Minister that Bailey Bridges are highly economical, durable and can be completed much faster than conventional bridges, making them particularly suitable for remote and sensitive regions.<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister was informed that 21 Bailey Bridges have already been built across Bijapur district, significantly improving access to villages and public services. These structures are accelerating development and strengthening governance in areas that were once cut off by challenging terrain.<\/p>\n

Interacting with labourers engaged in the project, Sai praised their contribution to the state’s progress and described workers and youth as the true architects of Chhattisgarh\u2019s development journey.<\/p>\n

Emphasising the broader significance of the project, the Chief Minister said the Kondapalli Bailey Bridge is more than a physical structure. \u201cIt is a bridge of development, trust and good governance,\u201d he remarked, adding that infrastructure expansion and successful rehabilitation efforts together are shaping a new identity for Bastar\u2014one where the benefits of progress are reaching even the most remote communities.<\/p>\n
