Thirty-five women trained under Bihan to install and maintain solar systems, creating new livelihood opportunities while expanding clean energy access in villages<\/em><\/h3>\n

TFP Bureau, Raipur, June 15,2026: In a major step towards promoting women\u2019s empowerment and renewable energy, the Kabirdham district administration has launched an initiative under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (Bihan) to train women from self-help groups as \u201cSolar Didis,\u201d equipping them with technical skills to support the growing adoption of solar power in rural areas.<\/p>\n

As part of the programme, 35 women associated with the Vande Mataram Cluster Level Federation have successfully completed specialised training in the installation, operation, maintenance and servicing of solar energy systems. They are now expected to provide technical assistance for solar projects across villages in the district.<\/p>\n

The training, conducted by technical experts, covered various aspects of solar technology, including equipment installation, repair, maintenance and customer support. The initiative aims to bridge the gap between rural women and modern technology while generating new avenues for employment and entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n

With their newly acquired skills, the Solar Didis will be able to install and service solar equipment locally, creating a steady source of income through service charges and commissions on solar installations. Officials believe the programme will also facilitate the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana by ensuring that trained technicians are available within villages for installation and maintenance work.<\/p>\n

The initiative is expected to improve access to clean and renewable energy in rural communities while reducing dependence on external service providers and making maintenance more convenient for local residents.<\/p>\n

The Chief Executive Officer of the Kabirdham Zila Panchayat described the Solar Didi programme as a forward-looking initiative that combines economic empowerment with technological advancement. He said the project enables rural women to move beyond traditional livelihood activities and establish themselves in technical professions, opening up dignified employment opportunities.<\/p>\n

Officials added that as the demand for solar energy grows, the trained women are likely to enhance their incomes while inspiring more women to pursue similar opportunities. The programme is also expected to contribute to environmental conservation and sustainable rural development by encouraging greater use of renewable energy and supporting the vision of self-reliant villages.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
