Academic Bank of Credits and DigiLocker integration under NEP 2020 empowers over 6.5 lakh students with flexible learning, secure records and nationwide mobility<\/em><\/h3>\n

TFP Bureau, Raipur, June 18,2026: Chhattisgarh\u2019s higher education system is undergoing a digital transformation with the successful implementation of the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) and DigiLocker under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, enabling students to securely store academic records and resume their education without losing previously earned credits.<\/p>\n

Introduced as a mandatory initiative from the 2023\u201324 academic session and now fully operational across the state, the integrated platform has created what education officials describe as a \u201cdigital university in every student\u2019s pocket.\u201d More than 6.5 lakh students across Chhattisgarh are currently benefiting from the system.<\/p>\n

The Academic Bank of Credits functions as a digital repository where students\u2019 academic credits are securely stored throughout their educational journey. The mechanism supports the \u201cMultiple Entry and Exit\u201d framework envisaged under NEP 2020, allowing students who discontinue their studies due to personal or financial reasons to resume later without forfeiting their completed coursework.<\/p>\n

For example, a student who leaves college after completing two years can return after a gap and continue studies by transferring accumulated credits through the ABC platform, rather than restarting the programme from the beginning.<\/p>\n

Officials say the initiative has been implemented in all 33 districts of the state, with participation from major universities including Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University in Raipur, Atal Bihari Vajpayee University in Bilaspur and Shaheed Mahendra Karma University in Bastar, along with government and private colleges.<\/p>\n

The digital ecosystem has also strengthened document security through integration with DigiLocker and the National Academic Depository (NAD). Universities now upload degrees, marksheets and certificates directly to students\u2019 DigiLocker accounts, allowing them to access legally valid digital copies anytime and eliminating the risk of losing important documents.<\/p>\n

The programme has been rolled out with full technical and financial support from the Union Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), placing no additional financial burden on the state government.<\/p>\n

Education officials believe the initiative is especially significant for students in remote districts such as Sukma, Bijapur and Surguja, where digital integration is helping bridge educational disparities by connecting learners with institutions and opportunities across the country.<\/p>\n

By enabling seamless credit transfers, secure digital documentation and flexible academic pathways, the ABC and DigiLocker framework is expected to enhance student mobility, reduce dropouts and create a more accessible and future-ready higher education system in Chhattisgarh.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
