<\/p>\nTFP Bureau, Raipur, June 22, 2026: Seeking to strengthen oversight of urban development initiatives, Urban Administration and Development Department Secretary Sangita R. has directed district-wise nodal officers to closely monitor construction activities and the delivery of public amenities in municipal corporations, municipal councils, and nagar panchayats across Chhattisgarh.<\/p>\n
Chairing a review meeting at the Mantralaya, the Secretary instructed officers to proactively identify and resolve issues affecting urban local bodies while ensuring that development projects and government schemes are implemented effectively on the ground. She also called for comprehensive assessments of civic infrastructure, operational arrangements, and local requirements during field inspections.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, Sangita R. reviewed feedback from nodal officers regarding their visits to urban bodies and emphasised the importance of thorough preparation before inspections. She directed officials to monitor the utilisation of funds released over the past two financial years for construction and development works and to conduct monthly reviews of ongoing projects as well as Central and State government schemes.<\/p>\n
The Secretary further instructed nodal officers to keep a close watch on the financial health of the urban bodies under their jurisdiction by tracking income and expenditure patterns. Urban local bodies capable of sustaining operations through their own revenue sources should be encouraged to strengthen financial self-reliance, she said.<\/p>\n
Special emphasis was also placed on achieving ward-level saturation under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), with officials asked to set clear targets and accelerate implementation to maximise beneficiary coverage.<\/p>\n
Senior officials attending the meeting included Director of Urban Administration R. Ekka, Deputy Secretary Bhagwat Jaiswal, State Urban Development Agency (SUDA) CEO Shashank Pandey, Additional Director Pulak Bhattacharya, and Chief Engineer Rajesh Sharma.<\/p>\n
As part of efforts to reinforce field-level monitoring, the department has instructed all state-level nodal officers to regularly visit their assigned districts. During inspections conducted on June 6, officers reviewed the progress of various development schemes, identified implementation challenges, and assessed on-ground execution.<\/p>\n
According to departmental figures, inspections have so far been completed in 103 of the state’s 194 urban local bodies. Officials said the initiative aims to improve accountability, ensure quality execution of projects, and facilitate timely resolution of issues affecting urban development works.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
