<\/p>\nTFP Bureau, Raipur, July 1,2026: In a significant milestone for education and rural development in Bastar, 11 schools that had remained closed for 21 years due to Maoist violence have reopened in the Pidia region of Bijapur district, restoring access to education for 539 children across 11 villages.<\/p>\n
The reopening of the schools is being seen as a symbol of the region’s return to normalcy and reflects the state’s efforts to strengthen education and development under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai.<\/p>\n
The schools have resumed operations in the villages of Pidia, Pedapal, Chhotegotodi, Kuyem, Madpal, Andri, Idenar, Donditumanar, Mirganghotul, Gampur and Tamodi. With educational facilities now available within their own villages, children will no longer have to travel long distances to attend school.<\/p>\n
The reopening was marked with an enrolment ceremony inaugurated by District Panchayat President Janki Korsa, who offered prayers to Goddess Saraswati. During the event, education facilitators were provided with registers and teaching materials, while newly enrolled students received school bags, notebooks, pens and slates. The children were welcomed with traditional tilak<\/em> ceremonies and sweets in the presence of parents, villagers and public representatives.<\/p>\n District Education Officer Rajesh Pandey said the district administration has reopened 37 schools this year under a special campaign, including 20 primary schools and 17 upper primary schools. He added that infrastructure development, including school buildings, drinking water facilities, electricity and other essential amenities, is being strengthened in the reopened institutions.<\/p>\n Collector Vishwadeep said ensuring access to education for every child remains the administration’s top priority. He noted that schools in areas where peace and normalcy have been restored are being reopened in phases so that no child is deprived of education.<\/p>\n Officials said the revival of schools in Pidia represents a broader transformation taking place in Bastar.
