TFP Bureau, Raipur, April 7, 2025: As the state government plans to celebrate Sushasan Tihar (Good Governance Day), Congress leaders have sharply criticized the administration\u2019s handling of law and order. State Congress President Deepak Baij has claimed that while the government celebrates good governance, farmers and the poor are suffering from violence and exploitation under the BJP-led administration.<\/p>\n
Baij pointed to the recent assault of a farmer, Khorbahara Jaiswal, in the village of Khilora in Suhela, Balodabazar district, where the rice mill owner, Roshan Agarwal, and his associates allegedly beat the farmer until he bled. Baij emphasized that Jaiswal\u2019s only “crime” was speaking out against the illegal occupation of government land. Despite the brutality, he alleged that the local police and administration turned a blind eye to the incident.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThe BJP government claims to protect farmers, but in reality, they are allowing criminals and bullies to reign freely,\u201d Baij said. \u201cIn fact, the criminals involved in these acts of violence are openly threatening authorities, saying they are untouchable. The law and order situation is in shambles, and criminals are emboldened.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Baij further accused the BJP government of being aligned with capitalist interests, claiming that this connection has led to a rise in violence and impunity. He cited previous incidents where BJP affiliates had been involved in similar crimes, including the recent threat made to a woman officer by a BJP-affiliated businessman, with no serious action taken against the culprits.<\/p>\n
The Congress leader also took aim at the state\u2019s overall law and order situation, stating, \u201cThe government\u2019s inaction has allowed crime to surge across the state. From robberies to murders, rapes, and assaults, criminal activities are becoming an everyday occurrence. The Chief Minister and the Home Minister have failed to manage the situation. Lawlessness is growing, and the government is sitting idle, unable to protect the people.\u201d<\/p>\n
Baij emphasized the rising climate of fear in Chhattisgarh, where citizens no longer feel safe even in their homes. \u201cIn every corner of the state\u2014from the capital to Bastar, Surguja, and Jashpur\u2014people live in constant fear. Criminals walk freely with weapons, attacking people at any time of day or night, in schools, markets, offices, and even on the streets.\u201d<\/p>\n
With rising concerns about alcohol and drug abuse, Baij criticized the government for neglecting its duties, claiming that crime is escalating faster than ever under the so-called \u201cdouble-engine government.\u201d According to him, instead of addressing the crime wave, government officials are deflecting attention with excuses and political statements.<\/p>\n
