It appealed to the public to maintain a safe distance from power lines, transformers and other electrical installations and avoid touching or tampering with them under any circumstances.<\/p>\n<p>The company advised consumers to report damaged poles, broken wires or faulty electrical equipment caused by storms or heavy rainfall through the toll-free helpline <strong>1912<\/strong>, the <strong>Mor Bijli<\/strong> mobile application or the nearest electricity distribution centre or zonal office.<\/p>\n<p>According to the advisory, people should avoid standing, walking or swimming in waterlogged areas where electric poles, transformers or power lines are located, as electric current may spread through water. Consumers have also been advised to keep their hands and feet dry while operating electrical appliances and use rubber or plastic footwear to minimise the risk of electric shock.<\/p>\n<p>The utility said maintenance and inspection of feeders, transformers and power lines had been completed before the onset of the monsoon, but stressed that public vigilance remains essential for preventing accidents.<\/p>\n<p>The advisory also warned against using unauthorised electricity connections, energising barbed-wire or farm fences, and carrying out construction beneath or close to overhead power lines. It urged people not to attempt repairs on damaged electrical equipment themselves and to immediately inform electricity officials if snapped power lines are found lying on roads, fields or in water bodies so that the power supply can be disconnected safely.<\/p>\n<p>Parents have also been advised to prevent children from playing near electrical installations, while consumers have been asked not to use electricity poles or stay wires for drying clothes and to avoid temporary connections using damaged or frayed cables.<\/p>\n<p>The company also issued guidelines for responding to electrocution incidents. It advised that the power supply should be switched off immediately using the main switch. If this is not possible, the victim should be separated from the power source using a dry wooden object, dry rope or dry cloth without direct physical contact. The victim should then be shifted to a dry place, provided first aid or artificial respiration if required, and rushed to the nearest hospital without delay.<\/p>\n<p>Executive Director (Bilaspur Region) <strong>A.K. Ambastha<\/strong> said maintaining uninterrupted electricity supply during extreme weather conditions such as heavy rain and storms remains a major challenge for power personnel, who often work continuously under difficult conditions to restore services. He appealed to consumers not to panic during temporary outages, wait for a few minutes, and register complaints through the toll-free number 1912 if the disruption persists.<\/p>\n<p>Ambastha also urged consumers to cooperate with maintenance teams during repair work and refrain from interfering with electrical installations.
