Prime Minister says the hydrogen-powered train is a milestone for ‘Make in India’; unveils rail, road, healthcare and cultural projects while reaffirming India’s Olympic ambitions for 2036.<\/em><\/h3>\n

TFP Bureau, Jind (Haryana), July 17,2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday laid the foundation stone and dedicated to the nation development projects worth around \u20b914,700 crore in Haryana, including rail, road, healthcare and cultural infrastructure, while flagging off India’s first hydrogen-powered train.<\/p>\n

Addressing a large gathering in Jind, the Prime Minister described the occasion as a historic milestone, saying the launch of the country’s first hydrogen train had permanently etched Jind and Haryana in the pages of India’s development journey.<\/p>\n

“Today, Jind and Haryana have permanently etched their names in the pages of history. From here, the nation has been gifted its first hydrogen train,” Modi said.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister said the hydrogen-powered train is completely emission-free and represents a major achievement under the ‘Make in India’ initiative. Designed and manufactured by Indian engineers and industries, the train is equipped with a 3,200-horsepower engine and ten coaches, making it one of the most powerful hydrogen trains in the world.<\/p>\n

“India has successfully demonstrated its capability by operating a hydrogen train with ten full coaches, while similar trains in other countries generally operate with only three or four coaches,” he said.<\/p>\n

Modi noted that hydrogen train technology has emerged globally only over the past seven to eight years and said Indian Railways has taken a significant leap in adopting future-ready green mobility solutions.<\/p>\n

The newly inaugurated hydrogen train will initially operate on the 90-kilometre Jind-Sonipat route. The Prime Minister said the technology would require specialised infrastructure and manufacturing facilities, creating new employment opportunities, particularly for the youth.<\/p>\n

Highlighting the government’s focus on infrastructure development, Modi dedicated several major projects, including the local section of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway, the Jind-Gohana National Highway and the Ambala-Kala Amb four-lane highway project. He said enhanced connectivity would improve transportation, strengthen industries, promote tourism and provide better market access for farmers and livestock owners.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister also inaugurated Pandit Neki Ram Sharma Medical College in Bhiwani and Maharishi Chyavan Medical College along with Rao Tularam Hospital in Narnaul, stating that the institutions would significantly improve healthcare services while creating new opportunities for medical education.<\/p>\n

Referring to the country’s railway modernisation programme, Modi said nearly 99 per cent of India’s railway network has now been electrified compared to about 30 per cent before 2014. He added that complete electrification enabled uninterrupted railway operations despite global disruptions in fuel supply caused by geopolitical tensions.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister appreciated the people of Haryana for welcoming him through the “Swachhta Se Swagat” initiative and urged citizens to make cleanliness an integral part of their daily lives.\"\"<\/p>\n

On sports, Modi said the government has introduced a new National Sports Policy, popularly known as the Khelo Bharat Policy, while expanding initiatives such as Khelo India and the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) to provide world-class facilities for athletes.<\/p>\n

He reiterated India’s preparations to host the 2036 Olympic Games and urged young sportspersons to dedicate themselves fully to achieving international success.<\/p>\n

“We are making full preparations for the Olympic Games to be held in India in 2036. Every athlete should prepare with complete dedication. The government will provide every possible support,” he said.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister also highlighted the government’s commitment to transparent governance, infrastructure expansion and agricultural welfare. He said farmers in Haryana have received substantial financial assistance under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, with more than \u20b9600 crore transferred directly to beneficiaries in Jind district alone.<\/p>\n

During the programme, Modi also laid the foundation stone for a Sikh Museum in Kurukshetra, saying it would preserve and showcase India’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage for future generations.<\/p>\n

Concluding his address, the Prime Minister said Haryana’s rapid progress in agriculture, industry, infrastructure and innovation would make a significant contribution to the vision of a Viksit Bharat<\/em> (Developed India).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
