TFP Bureau, Raipur, July 31,2026: Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh highlighted the growing role of women in driving social and economic transformation, stating that women across the state are becoming increasingly empowered, capable and self-reliant through education, skills and government support.<\/p>\n
During his visit to Rajnandgaon, Dr. Singh attended a workers’ conference at the Padma Shri Govindram Nirmalkar Auditorium, where he interacted with women beneficiaries of various welfare initiatives. After the event, he travelled to the Speaker’s House in an e-rickshaw driven by beneficiary and e-rickshaw operator Sarita Verma of Naya Dhaba, symbolically acknowledging the progress made by women towards economic independence. District Panchayat CEO Durga Prasad Adhikari and Sumit Upadhyay also accompanied him.<\/p>\n
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Raman Singh said women today are confidently driving bicycles, motorcycles, cars and even aircraft, reflecting a significant shift towards self-reliance and empowerment. He remarked that education and economic opportunities have enabled women to make remarkable progress in every field.<\/p>\n
The interaction with Sarita Verma drew appreciation from those present, with the Assembly Speaker’s gesture of travelling in her e-rickshaw being viewed as encouragement for women pursuing independent livelihoods. The occasion reflected the confidence and pride of women who have benefited from government-supported livelihood initiatives.<\/p>\n
During the conference, several women beneficiaries shared their personal experiences, explaining how public welfare schemes had transformed their lives and improved their financial stability. The event focused on showcasing the social impact of government programmes aimed at women’s empowerment.<\/p>\n
Dr. Raman Singh also interacted with another e-rickshaw driver, Usha Sahu, encouraging her to continue her education beyond Class 10. Stressing the importance of education, he said learning and skill development go hand in hand in building confidence and expanding opportunities for women.<\/p>\n
Speaking during the interaction, Usha Sahu’s husband, Bhavesh Sahu, said he had taught his wife to drive the e-rickshaw and continues to support her efforts.
