First-of-its-kind spiritual ceremony on the banks of the Mahanadi marks a new chapter in religious tourism as state unveils ambitious plan to develop Rudreshwar temple complex<\/h3>\n

TFP Bureau, Raipur, August 4, 2026: The sacred banks of the Chitrotpala Mahanadi in Dhamtari came alive with devotion and spiritual fervour on the first Monday of the holy month of Sawan as the city witnessed its inaugural Mahanadi Ganga Aarti. Illuminated by 108 lamps and accompanied by the chanting of Vedic hymns, temple bells and conch shells, the grand ceremony evoked the spiritual ambience of Kashi and marked the beginning of what is set to become a weekly religious tradition throughout the month of Sawan.<\/p>\n

Organised jointly by the Dhamtari Yuva Brigade and the Shri Rudreshwar Mahadev Parivar, the event drew large participation from devotees and local residents, giving fresh momentum to the city’s cultural and spiritual heritage.<\/p>\n

Adding to the significance of the occasion, the Department of Culture and Tourism announced an ambitious \u20b920-crore redevelopment project for the historic Rudreshwar Mahadev Temple complex. The project aims to transform Rudreshwar Dham into a modern, eco-friendly religious and cultural tourism destination while preserving its traditional architectural heritage.<\/p>\n

The redevelopment will be implemented in three phases and will combine ancient temple architecture with contemporary visitor amenities. The master plan includes the construction of a grand entrance gateway, an ornate temple shikhar, decorative torans, deep stambhs, and a monumental Nandi statue. Facilities for pilgrims will include spacious walkways, rest houses, prasad and souvenir centres, food courts, safe riverfront ghats, and digital information systems.<\/p>\n

The proposed development also includes AI-enabled health kiosks, landscaped gardens, a cultural pavilion, riverfront cottages, an open-air auditorium, and a scenic promenade inspired by the concept of a Marine Drive. Sustainability features such as solar-powered parking, electric vehicle charging stations, rainwater harvesting systems, and scientific waste management infrastructure have also been incorporated into the project.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Dhamtari MLA Shri Omkar Sahu, Mayor Shri Jagdish Ramu Rohra, Collector Smt. Ranjana Sahu, public representatives and a large number of devotees and citizens.<\/p>\n

With the introduction of the weekly Mahanadi Ganga Aarti and the comprehensive redevelopment of Rudreshwar Dham, the initiative is expected to strengthen Dhamtari’s position as a prominent religious and cultural tourism destination while generating new opportunities for local employment, trade and community participation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
