TFP Bureau, Raipur, August 13, 2026: Senior Chhattisgarh Congress spokesperson Satyaprakash Singh on Thursday urged the state government to immediately begin fresh registration for women who have been left out of the Mahtari Vandan scheme.<\/p>\n
Singh said the government had announced that the Mahtari Vandan portal would be reopened to invite fresh applications, but the registration process had not yet commenced. He claimed that women who got married during the past two-and-a-half years, as well as several eligible women who could not register when the scheme was initially launched, were still awaiting an opportunity to enrol.<\/p>\n
He demanded that the government accept applications through both online and offline modes so that no eligible woman is deprived of the scheme’s benefits.<\/p>\n
Singh said the government should allow every eligible married woman to apply once the portal is reopened. He also called for the removal of restrictions related to government employment and income-tax status, arguing that the benefits should reach a wider section of married women.<\/p>\n
According to Singh, the BJP had promised during the election campaign that every married woman would receive benefits under the Mahtari Vandan scheme. He alleged that after forming the government, however, several rules and conditions were introduced.<\/p>\n
He claimed that Chhattisgarh has around 1.5 crore married women, while approximately one crore were expected to benefit under the scheme. He further alleged that although the government had initially stated that around 70 lakh women were receiving benefits, names have subsequently been removed on grounds including e-KYC-related requirements.<\/p>\n
Singh also criticised the government for not inviting fresh applications from eligible women during the past two years and alleged that the BJP government had failed to fulfil its election promise.<\/p>\n
The Congress spokesperson said the reopening of the portal should be accompanied by a transparent and inclusive registration process to ensure that all eligible women get an opportunity to apply.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
