TFP Bureau, Raipur, September 8, 2026: Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Vijay Sharma has directed officials to accelerate the implementation of the new criminal laws in Chhattisgarh, with emphasis on making the criminal justice system faster, more transparent and technology-driven.<\/p>\n

Chairing a review meeting at Police Headquarters in Naya Raipur, Sharma reviewed the state’s performance on the Union Ministry of Home Affairs’ National Criminal Law Implementation (NCLI) Dashboard<\/strong> and called for sustained improvement across all parameters. He noted that Chhattisgarh’s ranking has improved significantly since July and directed officials to maintain the momentum through coordinated action.<\/p>\n

Faster movement from FIR to court<\/h3>\n

The Deputy Chief Minister directed officials to finalize the mechanism for direct online transmission of FIRs and charge sheets to courts<\/strong> at the earliest. The system, he said, would help reduce delays between investigation and trial.<\/p>\n

He also called for all police stations to be equipped with the necessary technical and operational capabilities to strengthen the use of the National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS)<\/strong> and e-Sakshya<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Officials were instructed to ensure prompt delivery of e-Summons<\/strong> after their issuance and strengthen the online submission of charge sheets to courts within the prescribed timelines.<\/p>\n

Administrative reforms to be expedited<\/h3>\n

Sharma directed the Home Department to expedite pending notifications and procedural arrangements related to administrative reforms under the new criminal law framework.<\/p>\n

He stressed that technology alone would not be sufficient to deliver the intended benefits of the new laws. The efficiency and preparedness of officers and personnel at the field level must also be strengthened to ensure that reforms translate into tangible improvements for citizens.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Centre-state coordination to resolve implementation challenges<\/h3>\n

The meeting also reviewed challenges related to the implementation of the new criminal laws, Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS)<\/strong> and the Inter-operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS)<\/strong> in Chhattisgarh.<\/p>\n

Sharma held discussions with officials from the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB)<\/strong> and National Informatics Centre (NIC)<\/strong> on technical and procedural issues. He directed officials to establish effective coordination with central agencies wherever technical support or policy intervention is required.<\/p>\n

The Deputy Chief Minister said that timely resolution of such issues would help Chhattisgarh further strengthen its performance in implementing the new criminal laws.<\/p>\n

NCRB Director General Amit Garg, BPR&D Director General Alok Mittal, Principal Secretary (Home) Niharika Barik, Home Secretaries Neha Champawat and Himshikhar Gupta, Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Director General (Prisons) Himanshu Gupta, Director of Prosecution Pradeep Gupta, Additional Director General of Police Vivekanand Sinha and Anil Kishore Yadav of CAPT Bhopal were among those present.<\/p>\n

Senior police officials, including Divisional Inspectors General and District Superintendents of Police, medico-legal nodal officers from the Health Department, prosecution officers and officials from NCRB and NIC in Delhi also participated through video conferencing.<\/p>\n

NCLI Dashboard tracks implementation<\/h3>\n

The National Criminal Law Implementation Dashboard<\/strong>, maintained by the Ministry of Home Affairs, is a centralised digital platform for monitoring the implementation of India’s three new criminal laws\u2014the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS)<\/strong> and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The review reflects the state’s focus on strengthening digital integration, improving investigation and prosecution processes and ensuring that the objectives of the new criminal justice framework are implemented effectively at the ground level.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
