TFP Bureau, Raipur, September 10, 2026: The Chhattisgarh Public Works Department (PWD) has taken strict action against six contractors for allegedly failing to make satisfactory progress on road and bridge construction projects in Bastar despite repeated notices and extensions.<\/p>\n
The department has ordered that the registration renewals of six contractors be denied for periods ranging from two to five years. The registrations of contractor K. Mohan Reddy and M\/s Transaft Infra have also been cancelled in view of the seriousness of the violations.<\/p>\n
The action followed a detailed review of delays in key road and bridge projects, particularly in Bastar and adjoining districts. According to the PWD, the contractors failed to complete the assigned works despite repeated notices, extensions of contractual periods and affidavits submitted by them assuring progress.<\/p>\n
The department said the action was taken in view of alleged negligence, carelessness and violations of contractual obligations affecting public utility and transportation infrastructure. The State Government has also filed a caveat before the Bilaspur High Court in connection with the action.<\/p>\n
Orders issued by the Engineer-in-Chief, Public Works Department, cover six contractors involved in various projects in Sukma and Narayanpur districts.<\/p>\n
M\/s Raghava Construction, executing the Chintalnar-Mariyagudam and Konta-Golapalli road projects in Sukma district, has been barred from renewal of its registration for five years.<\/p>\n
Similarly, M\/s Shanti Vijay Construction, which is undertaking the Narayanpur-Sonpur-Maroda road project in Narayanpur district, has been subjected to a five-year bar on registration renewal.<\/p>\n
M\/s Transaft Infra, engaged in construction work on the Chintalnar-Mariyagudam road in Sukma district, has had its registration cancelled. The firm has also been barred from renewal of its registration for five years from the date of the order.<\/p>\n
The department has also cancelled the registration of contractor K. Mohan Reddy, who is associated with construction of the Bhejji-Chintagufa and Chintalnar-Mariyagudam roads in Sukma district. His registration renewal has been barred for five years.<\/p>\n
M\/s Balaji Infrastructure, which is working on the Konta-Golapalli road, has been subjected to a two-year bar on renewal of registration.<\/p>\n
A five-year bar has also been imposed on M\/s Pankaj Haldar, which is executing bridge and culvert construction work on the Narayanpur-Sonpur-Maroda road.<\/p>\n
The PWD said the action reflects the government\u2019s strict approach towards delays and non-performance in major public infrastructure projects.
