TFP Bureau, Raipur, September 12, 2026: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai on Saturday welcomed women from across the state to the Teeja-Pora festival at his official residence in Nava Raipur, declaring that the house had become their \u2018mayka\u2019 (maternal home) for the day.<\/p>\n
\u201cToday, my home is the maternal home of all of you sisters. Your visit to your brother\u2019s home is a matter of great joy and good fortune for me,\u201d Shri Sai said, addressing the gathering of women and girls.<\/p>\n
The Chief Minister said Teeja-Pora is closely linked to Chhattisgarh\u2019s soil, family ties, agriculture, livestock and folk traditions. He said the state\u2019s festivals helped preserve its cultural roots and strengthen bonds between generations.<\/p>\n
The residence was decorated to recreate the setting of a Chhattisgarhi village, with bullock carts, traditional Nandi-Baila figures, folk handicrafts and rural-themed installations. Women took part in \u2018fugdi\u2019, tug-of-war and musical chairs competitions, while mehendi stalls, swings and folk performances added to the celebrations.<\/p>\n
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai offered prayers to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and prayed for the happiness, prosperity and well-being of the people of Chhattisgarh. He said Teeja symbolises Goddess Parvati\u2019s devotion, perseverance and unwavering faith, while Pora reflects Chhattisgarh\u2019s agricultural culture and its respect and gratitude towards livestock.<\/p>\n
Shri Sai launched the statewide \u2018Har Ghar Munga-Ghar Ghar Munga\u2019 campaign and unveiled its logo. He also inaugurated National Nutrition Month 2026 in the state, released its poster and administered a nutrition pledge to women attending the event.<\/p>\n
The Chief Minister said the leaves and pods of the Munga tree are rich in nutrients and minerals and could support better nutrition, particularly among women and children. He urged people to plant Munga trees at home and in their neighbourhoods and promote their use in daily diets.<\/p>\n
He said Nutrition Month would be observed across the state from September 9 to October 8, with activities aimed at raising awareness about balanced diets and nutrition among women, children and families. A nutrition chariot was flagged off to take information on nutrition to different areas.<\/p>\n
Highlighting the government\u2019s women\u2019s welfare measures, Shri Sai said more than 68 lakh women in the state were receiving Rs 1,000 every month under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana. More than Rs 20,000 crore has been transferred directly into beneficiaries\u2019 bank accounts through 31 installments, he said. The Chief Minister said women are using the financial assistance for purposes including their daughters\u2019 future, purchasing sewing machines and strengthening small businesses such as vegetable vending and grocery shops.<\/p>\n
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai marked the annaprashan ceremony by feeding kheer to young children and blessing them for a healthy, happy and bright future. He also interacted with the children\u2019s mothers and enquired about their health and nutrition. The ceremony added a message of good nutrition to the Teeja-Pora celebrations.<\/p>\n
Shri Sai said more than 13.50 lakh women in Chhattisgarh have become Lakhpati Didis, exceeding the target of eight lakh. He added that women are also entering new fields through initiatives such as \u2018Dealer Didi\u2019, \u2018Rani Mistri\u2019 and \u2018Drone Didi\u2019. Women trained in construction are working as Rani Mistris, while Drone Didis are using modern equipment to spray fertilisers and pesticides on farmland. Several Drone Didis are spraying fertilisers and pesticides across 20 to 25 acres of farmland in a single day and earning up to Rs 7,000.<\/p>\n
The Chief Minister said the state is encouraging property ownership among women by offering a 50% concession in registration fees and a 1% concession in stamp duty on property registered in women\u2019s names. He said women\u2019s empowerment involved access to opportunities, dignity, financial independence and a greater role in decision-making.<\/p>\n
Shri Sai said more than 1,600 houses are being constructed daily in Chhattisgarh under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Over the past two and a half years, 18 lakh houses have been sanctioned in the state, of which more than 11.5 lakh have been completed. He said Union Minister for Rural Development and Agriculture Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, during his visit to Chhattisgarh, sanctioned an additional 3.65 lakh houses for the state.<\/p>\n
Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade extended greetings to women across the state and said Teeja was an important festival associated with Chhattisgarh\u2019s traditions and women\u2019s strength. She said the Mahtari Vandan Yojana has provided financial support to women, while the Women and Child Development Department is working on health, nutrition and the overall development of women and children. She urged women to participate in the \u2018Har Ghar Munga-Ghar Ghar Munga\u2019 campaign by planting Munga trees and including them in their diets.<\/p>\n
Cabinet Ministers Shri Gajendra Yadav and Shri Dayal Das Baghel, State Women\u2019s Commission Chairperson Dr Mamta Sahu, Child Protection Commission Chairperson Smt. Varnika Sharma, Chhattisgarh Handicrafts Development Board Chairperson Smt. Shalini Rajput, Rajya Sabha MP Smt. Lakshmi Verma, Raipur mayor Smt. Meenal Choubey, Smt.
