TFP Bureau, Raipur, September 17, 2026: Chhattisgarh is preparing to expand the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in areas ranging from agriculture and healthcare to education, industry and public administration, with the State government announcing a \u20b9500-crore Chief Minister\u2019s AI Mission.<\/p>\n
The initiative, launched under Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, seeks to promote AI adoption as well as research, innovation and employment opportunities for young people. The government plans to establish 100 AI laboratories and five Centres of Excellence across the State under the mission.<\/p>\n
According to the State government, around six lakh students and 1.5 lakh government employees and officials will be brought into the AI ecosystem. More than 50 government services are also proposed to be made more efficient through the use of AI.<\/p>\n
The programme includes training in areas such as machine learning and data science, with the stated objective of enabling young people to develop technology-based enterprises and employment opportunities.<\/p>\n
Applications beyond IT<\/p>\n
The government is looking to use AI in agriculture by analysing weather, crop, pest and disease-related data to provide farmers with timely information and advice.<\/p>\n
In healthcare, AI-based tools are proposed for improving diagnostic processes, disease identification and the management of health resources. Government portals and digital platforms, including Seva Setu, are also expected to use technology to improve monitoring of welfare schemes and delivery of citizen services.<\/p>\n
AI applications are also being explored in industry to improve productivity and energy efficiency. The use of robotics and machine learning could help automate production processes, while AI-enabled sensors can monitor machinery and identify potential faults before breakdowns.<\/p>\n
Nava Raipur emerging as technology hub<\/p>\n
Nava Raipur Atal Nagar is being developed as a centre for information technology, AI and data infrastructure. The State government has said an AI-based data centre and an AI Special Economic Zone are being developed in the city with an estimated investment of around \u20b91,000 crore.<\/p>\n
A National Skill Training Institute is also proposed in Nava Raipur at an estimated cost of \u20b9200 crore.<\/p>\n
Research and startup activity is being promoted through Centres of Excellence at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur and the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Naya Raipur. The focus areas include mining, steel, healthcare, agriculture and smart governance.<\/p>\n
The government expects these initiatives to create opportunities for high-technology employment and reduce the need for skilled young people to migrate to larger cities.<\/p>\n
AI-based data centre<\/p>\n
An AI-based data centre is being developed over 13.5 acres in Sector 22 of Nava Raipur Atal Nagar. The government has described the project as a major step in strengthening the State\u2019s digital infrastructure.<\/p>\n
The proposed expansion of AI-based services is also expected to improve access to education, healthcare and government services, particularly in remote areas.<\/p>\n
The State government has said its broader objective is to use AI not only as an emerging technology but also as a tool for improving public services, strengthening governance, supporting livelihoods and creating new opportunities for the youth.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
