TFP Bureau, Raipur, September 27, 2026:\u00a0A local initiative of Chhattisgarh to combat malnutrition has now reached the national platform. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on Sunday mentioned Chhattisgarh\u2019s \u2018Har Ghar Munga\u2013Ghar Ghar Munga\u2019 campaign in his popular radio programme \u2018Mann Ki Baat\u2019. The Prime Minister appreciated the initiative for combining locally available resources with public participation to address the challenge of nutrition.<\/p>\n
In Chhattisgarh, the month of September is being specially utilised to increase awareness about nutrition. As part of this effort, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai launched the \u2018Har Ghar Munga\u2013Ghar Ghar Munga\u2019 campaign on September 12. The campaign aims to take moringa saplings to every household while making families aware of their nutritional benefits.<\/p>\n
Munga, or moringa, is easily available locally in Chhattisgarh. Rich in nutrients, moringa is important for health. It contains nutrients such as vitamins A and C, calcium, iron and protein, along with medicinal properties. The initiative to include moringa as a nutritious food in daily meals is significant. The moringa tree grows rapidly and requires relatively little maintenance. Moringa is considered an important plant for its nutrition, medicinal properties, and greenery. Linking it with local food and nutrition, the State Government has made it part of the campaign against malnutrition. The \u2018Har Ghar Munga\u2013Ghar Ghar Munga\u2019 campaign has been undertaken with a special focus on the nutrition of women, children and adolescent girls. Anganwadi centres have become an important base for the campaign, where families are encouraged to use moringa and are made aware of nutrition.<\/p>\n
Under the \u2018Har Ghar Munga\u2013Ghar Ghar Munga\u2019 campaign, moringa saplings have been distributed extensively for various Anganwadi centres, schools and households across the state. So far, the state government has distributed a total of 10,29,831 moringa saplings. District-wise, 25,244 saplings have been planted in Bastar, 43,071 in Kanker, 7,056 in Dantewada, 21,224 in Narayanpur, 15,699 in Bijapur, 4,835 in Sukma, 31,983 in Kondagaon, 43,754 in Surguja, 19,022 in Koriya, 11,939 in Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur, 64,599 in Surajpur, 27,107 in Balrampur and 1,62,271 in Jashpur district.<\/p>\n
Similarly, 23,948 saplings have been planted in Raipur district, 6,420 in Mahasamund, 48,833 in Dhamtari, 28,398 in Balodabazar, 10,527 in Gariaband, 42,474 in Durg, 3,480 in Rajnandgaon, 21,991 in Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki, 39,222 in Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai, 75,776 in Kabirdham, 19,575 in Bemetara, 50,933 in Balod, 14,965 in Bilaspur, 43,007 in Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, 57,653 in Janjgir-Champa, 6,425 in Sakti, 1,01,002 in Korba, 41,776 in Raigarh, 9,824 in Sarangarh-Bilaigarh and 6,518 in Mungeli district.<\/p>\n
A distinctive feature of this initiative is that, instead of relying on expensive or external resources, it uses a plant that is easily available locally to promote nutrition. In other words, a single plant grown in a household courtyard can improve the nutritional value of the family\u2019s diet while also raising awareness about malnutrition.<\/p>\n
The \u2018Har Ghar Munga\u2019 initiative is not being viewed merely as a plantation campaign. Through it, efforts are being made to bring together plantation, nutrition awareness, Anganwadi services and community participation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
