TFP Bureau, Nava Raipur, September 29,2026: Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU), Nava Raipur, in association with the Chhattisgarh Police, organised a cybersecurity awareness programme on Thursday as part of the state police\u2019s Cyber Jagruti Abhiyan.<\/p>\n
Titled \u201cDefending the Digital Frontier \u2013 A Cybersecurity Awareness Primer\u201d, the programme was organised through HNLU\u2019s Centre for Internet Governance and Artificial Intelligence (CIGAI). It brought together students, faculty members and police officials for discussions on emerging forms of cybercrime, online financial fraud, cybersecurity concerns affecting women and vulnerable users, and legal challenges arising from the expanding digital environment.<\/p>\n
Awareness and vigilance stressed<\/strong><\/p>\n Addressing the gathering, Law and Legislative Affairs Minister Gajendra Yadav spoke about changing methods used by cybercriminals, including fraudulent calls in which callers impersonate relatives or known persons. He advised students to exercise caution when responding to such communications and encouraged them to spread cybersecurity awareness among their families and communities.<\/p>\n HNLU Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) V.C. Vivekanandan said cybersecurity had become an important part of responsible citizenship in the digital era. He urged students to be cautious while opening unfamiliar links, responding to unsolicited messages and sharing personal or sensitive information.<\/p>\n He also highlighted the potential of artificial intelligence while pointing out that emerging technologies could also be misused for sophisticated cybercrimes. He called for informed and responsible use of such technologies.<\/p>\n Police underline safe digital practices<\/strong><\/p>\n Raipur Rural Superintendent of Police Shweta Shrivastav Sinha said awareness and vigilance were important safeguards against cybercrime. She urged young people to identify warning signs, follow safe digital practices and report suspicious transactions and cyber incidents promptly.<\/p>\n HNLU Registrar (I\/C) Dr. Deepak Kumar Srivastava stressed the need for sustained cybersecurity awareness and said universities had an important role in preparing students to navigate an increasingly interconnected digital environment.<\/p>\n Sessions cover legal and practical aspects<\/strong><\/p>\n The programme included technical sessions on women and cybersecurity, online financial fraud, cybercrimes under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and emerging legal issues in cyberspace.<\/p>\n The sessions sought to combine legal awareness with practical guidance on prevention, vigilance and response to cyber incidents.<\/p>\n The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Atul Jaybhaye, Programme Director, who acknowledged the participation of Chhattisgarh Police officials, university authorities, speakers, faculty members and students.<\/p>\n The initiative also highlighted HNLU\u2019s efforts to promote legal awareness, responsible technology use and informed digital citizenship in line with the objectives of the Cyber Jagruti Abhiyan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Programme highlights digital fraud, artificial intelligence-enabled risks and the need for responsible online behaviour<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":9998,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[116,118,117],"tags":[124],"class_list":["post-9997","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-breaking-news","category-chhattishgarh","category-state","tag-hnlu-raipur"],"yoast_head":"\n
