State Government Initiates Ration Card Renewal Drive: January 25 to February 29

For Antyodaya, Priority, Destitute, and Disabled category ration cards, the renewal process will be free, with the state government covering all associated costs

TFP Bureau, Raipur; January 19, 2024: The State Government has announced a comprehensive campaign for the renewal of all 76.94 lakh ration cards currently in use under the public distribution system. The renewal process is scheduled to commence from January 25, 2024, and will continue until February 29, 2024. The Food Department has introduced a new mobile app to facilitate the electronic application for the online renewal of ration cards. Ration card holders can download this app from the Food Department’s website (http://khadya.cg.nic.in/) and submit their renewal requests conveniently.

For beneficiaries without Android mobiles or in areas with no mobile connectivity, provisions have been made for both online and offline submission of electronic applications at the fair price shop level.

The Director of the Food Department has issued necessary instructions to all collectors, emphasizing wide publicity through fair price shops, gram panchayats, and local media outlets. Special considerations have been made for districts in the Bastar division with limited or no mobile connectivity. Additionally, elderly and physically handicapped beneficiaries who haven’t completed their e-KYC yet are provided with special facilities for ration card renewal.

The mobile app allows beneficiaries to scan the existing QR code, automatically retrieving information from the Food Department’s database, streamlining the application process. The State Government aims to simplify the renewal process to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries can renew their ration cards without any hassle. Beneficiaries completing e-KYC for at least one member on the ration card can submit electronic applications through the app.

For Antyodaya, Priority, Destitute, and Disabled category ration cards, the renewal process will be free, with the state government covering all associated costs. General category ration card holders will be required to pay a nominal fee of Rs 10 for renewal through the mobile app.
