TFP Bureau Raipur; February 13, 2024: Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao’s commitment to quality construction and efficient service delivery in the public health sector was underscored as he ordered the demolition of a substandard water tank in Deorhat of Lormi development block, Mungeli district. The prompt action came following complaints from villagers about low-quality construction and delays, prompting Deputy CM Shri Sao to personally inspect the site during a recent visit to Deorhat.
Upon inspection, flaws in the construction were evident, prompting Deputy CM Shri Sao to order its demolition and the construction of a new water tank. The Engineer-In-Chief of the Public Health Engineering Department conducted an inspection, which revealed substandard workmanship, leading to recommendations for disciplinary action against responsible officials and the contractor. Shri Sao reiterated that no compromise on quality or delays would be tolerated under any circumstances, particularly in projects under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
Meanwhile, in a separate initiative aimed at enhancing rural water supply infrastructure, Deputy CM Shri Sao presented appointment letters to 135 hand pump technicians selected through competitive examination by the Professional Examination Board (VYAPAAM). The technicians, deployed in rural areas across the state, are expected to strengthen the repair, maintenance, and quality control of drinking water systems. Speaking at the appointment ceremony held at Naveen Vishram Bhawan, Raipur, Shri Sao emphasized the importance of their role in ensuring uninterrupted water supply to rural communities.
Addressing the newly appointed technicians, Shri Sao urged them to approach their responsibilities with diligence and commitment, underscoring the vital role they play in maintaining the department’s credibility and serving the people effectively. Secretary of the Public Health Engineering Department, Mr. Mohammad Qaiser Abdulhaq, echoed Shri Sao’s sentiments, expressing confidence in the technicians’ ability to contribute positively to the department’s objectives.
The ceremony was attended by key officials, including Director of Jal Jeevan Mission, Mr. Sunil Jain, Chief Engineer of the Public Health Engineering Department, Dr. M.L. Aggarwal, and other departmental officers. Shri Sao’s proactive approach to addressing construction quality issues and enhancing the department’s workforce underscores the government’s commitment to providing efficient and reliable public services to rural communities across Chhattisgarh.
