TFP Bureau, Korba, May 20, 2025: Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), a subsidiary of Vedanta Group, has taken a significant step towards enhancing workplace and transport safety by conducting three major training sessions under its ‘Safety First’ policy. These initiatives aim to raise safety awareness, improve risk management, and reinforce a culture of responsibility among employees and transport partners.
A focused Road Safety Awareness Session was organised for over 50 transport partners operating within the plant premises, particularly those involved in the transportation of coal and ash. The participants were educated on critical road safety measures and were encouraged to strictly adhere to safety protocols. At the end of the session, drivers demonstrating exemplary safety practices were honoured for their performance.
As a landmark initiative, BALCO also launched the ISO 39001: Road Traffic Safety Management System (RTS) to systematically strengthen transport safety across its operations. A four-day comprehensive training programme was held under this system, covering road risk identification, legal compliance, and best practices. The campaign was designed to instill a robust safety culture and reduce the chances of road accidents, demonstrating BALCO’s ongoing commitment to high safety standards in all logistical activities.
In addition, the company conducted a two-day Incident Investigation Training, attended by over 90 participants. This proactive programme aimed to equip employees with the skills needed to identify root causes of workplace incidents and implement effective preventive strategies. The training emphasized analytical approaches to risk reduction and supported the development of a safety-oriented mindset among the workforce.
These initiatives underscore BALCO’s firm dedication to sustainable development and employee welfare. By prioritizing safety and continuous learning, the company continues to set a benchmark in industrial safety and operational excellence.
