District Administration and Social Welfare Department Organise Special Camp; ALIMCO Experts Conduct Assessments and Measurements

TFP Bureau, Raipur, June 26,2026: In a major step towards improving accessibility and promoting independent living for senior citizens and persons with disabilities, the District Administration and the Social Welfare Department organised a special registration and assessment camp to provide free artificial limbs and assistive devices to eligible beneficiaries.

Held at the District Centre for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities, the camp focused on identifying and measuring beneficiaries who require mobility aids and other assistive equipment. The initiative aims to enhance self-reliance and improve the quality of life for elderly and differently-abled individuals.

Technical experts from the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), a Government of India Mini Ratna public sector undertaking based in Kanpur, conducted detailed examinations and measurements during the camp. Beneficiaries from Janpad Panchayats Dhamtari and Kurud, Dhamtari Municipal Corporation, and the Nagar Panchayats of Kurud, Amdi and Bhakhara participated in the exercise.

Following the assessments, 147 beneficiaries were found eligible to receive free artificial limbs and assistive devices, which will be distributed in the coming days. In addition, 16 persons with disabilities were issued Unique Disability ID (UDID) cards on the spot, facilitating their access to various government welfare schemes and services.

The event also served as a platform for spreading social awareness. During the programme, the Deputy Director of the Social Welfare Department administered a pledge encouraging participants to remain drug-free and support the creation of a substance-free society. Officials emphasised that empowering persons with disabilities and integrating them into the social mainstream requires collective responsibility and community participation.

The camp witnessed the participation of ALIMCO’s technical team, officials and staff of the Social Welfare Department, along with hundreds of villagers and local residents, reflecting a strong community response to the initiative.
