Officials directed to strengthen coordination, remove site-level hurdles and expedite pending ROB and RUB works across Chhattisgarh
TFP Bureau, Raipur, July 9,2026: Public Works Department (PWD) Secretary Mukesh Kumar Bansal on Wednesday directed officials of the PWD and the Railways to strengthen coordination and expedite the execution of Railway Over-Bridge (ROB) and Railway Under-Bridge (RUB) projects across the state.
Chairing a review meeting at Mantralaya, Bansal assessed the progress of ongoing and proposed bridge projects and instructed officials to resolve site-level issues without delay so that pending works could commence at the earliest.
The meeting was attended by PWD Engineer-in-Chief V. K. Bhatpahari and South East Central Railway Principal Chief Engineer Avnish Kumar Pandey, along with senior officials from both organisations.
Bansal stressed that close coordination between the PWD and the Railways was essential to avoid unnecessary delays and ensure the timely completion of bridge projects. He said the early completion of ROBs and RUBs would help ease traffic congestion at railway crossings, improve road safety and facilitate faster movement of passengers and freight.
The Secretary directed officials to complete all procedural formalities required for new projects on priority. He instructed them to expedite land acquisition, land diversion, mutation, removal of encroachments and other site-related clearances within a fixed timeframe to ensure construction begins without avoidable delays.
He also emphasised the need to speed up utility shifting at project sites, stating that relocation of public utilities should not become a bottleneck in project implementation. Wherever joint inspections by PWD and Railway officials are required for preparing estimates and project designs, he directed that these be carried out immediately.
To ensure effective monitoring, Bansal instructed officials to conduct regular reviews of all ROB and RUB projects and hold quarterly coordination meetings between the PWD and the Railways to assess progress and resolve pending issues in a time-bound manner.
Senior officials present at the meeting included Additional Secretary S. N. Srivastava, Chief Engineer (Bridge Zone) S. K. Kori, Superintending Engineer D. K. Maheshwari, South East Central Railway Chief Engineer Manoj Kumar Singh, CPM Bilaspur Rajiv Kumar and CPM Raipur Tatvadarshi Sahu.
