Roadshow for 8th tranche of critical and strategic mineral block auctions on August 31; mine review and visit planned for September 1
TFP Bureau, Raipur, August 27, 2026: Chhattisgarh is set to give fresh momentum to the exploration and development of critical and strategic minerals, with a roadshow for the eighth tranche of mineral block auctions scheduled to be held at Mayfair Lake Resort in Naya Raipur on August 31.
The roadshow, being organised by the Union Ministry of Mines, will be attended by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Union Ministers of State Tokhan Sahu and Satish Chandra Dubey, CMDC Chairman Saurabh Singh, senior Central and state government officials, mining experts and industry representatives.
The Central Government has included 20 mineral blocks in the eighth tranche of auctions for critical and strategic minerals. These comprise three mining lease blocks and 17 composite licence blocks containing minerals such as graphite, rare earth elements, rare metals, vanadium, gallium, titanium, molybdenum and tungsten.
The availability and development of these minerals are considered important for strengthening the country’s mineral security and meeting strategic and industrial requirements.
Tin Portal and e-Ret Sangwari to be launched
The roadshow will begin with registration at 10.30 am, followed by the formal inaugural session at noon. Senior officials from the Centre and Chhattisgarh will address the gathering, followed by the Chief Minister’s address.
The event will also witness the launch of the ‘Tin Portal’ and ‘e-Ret Sangwari Portal’. An MoU will be exchanged with Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University (PTRSU) for training in corundum cutting and polishing.
A book on minor minerals will also be released, while the Notice Inviting Tender (NIT) for three limestone mining lease blocks is proposed to be issued during the programme.
Technical session to focus on auction process
A technical session will begin at 2 pm, featuring presentations on the mineral blocks offered under the eighth tranche of auctions.
MECL will provide details of the blocks available for auction, while SBI Caps will brief participants on the auction process and tender documents. MSTC will explain the mineral e-auction procedure.
A presentation will also be made on the NMEDT scheme, which provides for partial reimbursement of exploration expenditure incurred by composite licence holders.
An open-house discussion will follow, focusing on the potential of the mineral blocks, auction procedures, investment opportunities and the scope for greater private-sector participation in mining.
Review of previously auctioned blocks
A review meeting will be held after the roadshow to assess the operationalisation and progress of major mineral blocks that have already been auctioned.
A visit to selected mines is also proposed as part of the programme on September 1.
The roadshow and subsequent review are aimed at accelerating exploration, auctioning and mining of critical and strategic minerals in Chhattisgarh. The initiative is also expected to strengthen coordination between the Central and state governments, industry players and other stakeholders while creating fresh investment opportunities in the state’s mining sector.
With growing demand for minerals crucial to advanced manufacturing, energy technologies and other strategic industries, the auction process is expected to play an important role in unlocking Chhattisgarh’s mineral potential and strengthening the country’s resource security.
