Cabinet passes resolution highlighting Centre-state cooperation and development; approves recruitment of former Agniveers against 36 constable vacancies and renaming of Tribal Development Department
TFP Bureau, Raipur, October 11, 2026: The Chhattisgarh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai in Raipur on Sunday, passed a resolution congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 25 consecutive years as head of government, highlighting his contributions to governance, public welfare, infrastructure development and national security.
Addressing a press conference after the meeting, Sai said the Prime Minister’s journey had been guided by the principles of Nation First, public service, good governance and Antyodaya, or the upliftment of the last person in society. On behalf of the state Cabinet and people, he extended greetings to Modi and wished him good health and continued service to the nation.
The Chief Minister said cooperation between the Centre and the state had strengthened Chhattisgarh’s development, particularly in housing, drinking water, sanitation, healthcare, agriculture, tribal welfare and connectivity. He also cited the government’s focus on eliminating Naxalism and expanding development opportunities in remote areas.
The Cabinet also approved recruitment of former Agniveers against 36 vacant constable posts in the Home Department and a proposal to rename the Adim Jati Vikas Department as the Janjatiya Karya Department.
Investment and governance reforms
Sai said Chhattisgarh had undertaken administrative and policy reforms to attract investment and improve the ease of doing business. These include the Ease of Doing Business Act, 2026, the One Click Single Window System and the decriminalisation of 279 provisions through two Jan Vishwas Acts.
According to the Chief Minister, more than 450 administrative reforms had been implemented, while investment proposals worth ₹8.50 lakh crore had been received, with the potential to generate more than 1.60 lakh jobs.
He also highlighted the use of technology in governance, stating that nearly 14,000 of the state’s approximately 20,000 villages had been geo-referenced under the PM GatiShakti initiative. Under AgriStack, 42 lakh Farmer IDs had been created, while 7.51 lakh rural residents had received property records through the drone-based SVAMITVA scheme.
Housing, healthcare and food security
The Chief Minister said 20.65 lakh rural houses and 2.25 lakh urban houses had been completed in Chhattisgarh under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. He added that 36 lakh household toilets and 14,970 community toilets had been constructed under the Swachh Bharat Mission, while 39.73 lakh women had received LPG connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.
Under Ayushman Bharat, approximately 2.49 crore beneficiaries had received health cards, and around 51.17 lakh people had received free medical treatment worth approximately ₹11,877 crore, he said.
Sai added that 73 lakh families, comprising around 1.99 crore people, were receiving free foodgrains under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana and the Mukhyamantri Khadyan Sahayata Yojana.
Farmers and women among key beneficiaries
According to the Chief Minister, 26.57 lakh farmers in the state had benefited from the PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi. Paddy procurement had increased from 59 lakh metric tonnes in 2015 to 141 lakh metric tonnes, while farmers had received ₹33,431 crore through minimum support price payments and ₹10,292 crore as bonuses.
He said around 68 lakh women were receiving ₹1,000 per month under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana. Approximately 14 lakh women had become Lakhpati Didis, while 32.39 lakh rural families were associated with 2.98 lakh self-help groups under the state’s implementation of the National Rural Livelihoods Mission.
Tribal development and infrastructure expansion
Sai said infrastructure was being developed in more than 6,000 tribal-majority villages under the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan. The PM-JANMAN scheme had extended housing, roads and drinking water facilities to more than 56,000 families belonging to five Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups across 18 districts.
He also highlighted the operation of 75 Eklavya Model Residential Schools in 26 districts and the establishment of a Digital Tribal Freedom Fighters Museum in Nava Raipur.
On infrastructure, the Chief Minister cited national highway projects worth ₹35,766 crore and railway projects worth approximately ₹54,000 crore. He said 1,643 mobile towers had been sanctioned for remote and tribal areas under the Digital Bharat Nidhi.
In the energy sector, investment proposals worth approximately ₹3.5 lakh crore had been received. More than 1.16 lakh households had installed rooftop solar systems under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, with ₹670 crore in Central subsidies released, he added.
Bastar development and anti-Naxal efforts
The Chief Minister said coordinated efforts by the Centre and state, supported by security forces and local communities, had accelerated the campaign against Naxalism. He said the restoration of peace was opening up opportunities in education, healthcare, roads, tourism and employment in Bastar and other affected areas.
Under the housing scheme, 15,000 houses had been sanctioned for surrendered cadres and Naxal-affected families, of which 5,671 were under construction. He also cited the reopening of 421 schools that had remained closed for years because of Naxal violence.
Sai said the state’s ‘Chhattisgarh Anjor Vision 2047’ roadmap would guide efforts to build a developed state and contribute to the national goal of Viksit Bharat 2047. He identified the state’s natural resources, agricultural economy, skilled youth, empowered women and tribal heritage as key strengths for future growth.
Former Agniveers to be recruited against 36 posts
Among the Cabinet’s administrative decisions, approval was granted for recruiting former Agniveers against 36 vacant constable posts in the Home Department. The state has provided for 10 per cent category-wise reservation for former Agniveers in these posts.
The Cabinet also approved an amendment to the Chhattisgarh Government Business (Allocation) Rules to change the name of the Adim Jati Vikas Department to the Janjatiya Karya Department.
Sai said the state government would continue to focus on public welfare, good governance and development to advance the goal of a developed Chhattisgarh as part of Viksit Bharat 2047.
