Month-long campaign promotes environmental awareness, sustainable livelihoods and community participation; over 800 students take part in interactive Sustainability Carnival
TFP Bureau, Korba, October 29, 2026: Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), a unit of Vedanta Aluminium, has concluded its Sustainability Month 2026 campaign, bringing together more than 2,600 employees, business partners, family members, students and community representatives to promote environmental awareness and responsible living.
The month-long initiative featured a series of learning sessions, plantation and restoration activities, community programmes and interactive engagements aimed at integrating sustainability into everyday life, workplace practices and community development.
Key activities included the WADI Plantation Drive, pond restoration, seed ball making and a street play titled Mausam Ka Hisab. Interactive safety engagements and other community-focused initiatives further highlighted the importance of environmental protection, shared responsibility and sustainable practices.
The campaign culminated in a Sustainability Carnival that welcomed more than 800 students for hands-on learning and awareness activities. Participants took part in waste segregation challenges, biodiversity awareness sessions, seed ball making and engagements centred on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) themes.
Organised in collaboration with the Forest Department, horticulture awareness sessions highlighted the value of native and medicinal plants. Traditional activities such as pottery making and Kosa weaving showcased the links between indigenous knowledge, sustainable livelihoods and local heritage.
Exhibitions featuring products made by women entrepreneurs, self-help groups and local producer collectives also demonstrated how sustainability initiatives can support livelihoods while preserving cultural traditions.
Emphasising the importance of collective action, Rajesh Singh, CEO and Whole-time Director of BALCO, said sustainability was shaped by the choices made today and the legacy left for future generations.
“As India continues its growth journey, businesses have a critical role in creating progress that is economically strong, socially inclusive and environmentally responsible,” Singh said. He added that sustainability at BALCO went beyond processes and targets, serving as a guiding principle for operations, innovation and value creation for employees, communities and the nation.
Through Sustainability Month 2026, BALCO reiterated its commitment to promoting informed choices, encouraging community participation and incorporating sustainable practices into its operations and neighbouring communities.
