DrTFP Bureau, Raipur, May 7, 2025: The Chhattisgarh government has begun advance preparations for the procurement of paddy at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for the upcoming Kharif marketing year 2025–26. Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection Secretary Mrs. Reena Babasaheb Kangale conducted a detailed review of the procurement arrangements during a meeting held at the Ministry on Tuesday.
The review covered all key aspects including farmer registration, procurement center readiness, and monitoring mechanisms. Officials have been directed to complete the farmer registration process in a timely and transparent manner to avoid delays once the procurement season begins.
Strict Measures to Prevent Irregularities
Secretary Kangale emphasized that only paddy sown during the Kharif season of 2025-26 will be accepted at the support price. Any attempt to sell paddy from the previous year or Rabi season will result in strict action against the individuals involved.
She further instructed that during procurement, random samples of paddy must be tested using moisture meters and chemical methods to verify quality and ensure no old or substandard stock is passed off as current season produce.
Focus on Transparency and Efficiency
“All arrangements at procurement centers must be completed in advance,” Secretary Kangale said, stressing the importance of transparency and discipline during the entire procurement process. She urged officials to maintain high standards of monitoring to protect the interests of genuine farmers.
The initiative reflects the state government’s continued commitment to ensuring a fair and efficient paddy procurement system, benefiting lakhs of farmers across Chhattisgarh.
